I had read the book, "The Hotel at the Corner of Bitter and Sweet", and decided to try to find the hotel. I walked in, stepped up to the coffee bar, and was asked if I knew what I was looking for. I explained that I was going to have some coffee but the real reason I was there was because of the book. It turns out I was speaking with the owner, Jan Johnson! She told me a few things about the place and things to look for and was super friendly and helpful. My favorite thing was looking through the glass on the floor into the basement that still contains suitcases/belongings from some of those interred. My only regret was that I didn't visit on a Wednesday or Friday when they conduct tours (if you are interested, be sure and call ahead as they are limited).
To top it off, my latte and pastry were quite good too :).
