“Loved This Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

I am a frequent visitor to Seattle, but this is the first time I've stayed at the Hotel Max. I was there for three days this week.
Everyone I interacted with, especially the front desk, was extremely friendly and helpful--very customer service focused. I arrived fairly early in the morning, and there were some rooms ready. The front desk person actually gave me a key to one of the rooms so that I could see if I liked it, and I thought that was lovely of her.
The room was small-ish, but perfectly adequate and very well appointed. Whoever designed this hotel listened to travelers--I counted 8 different places for plugs/USB cords. Usually there is one socket hidden behind the night stand. In addition, I am a very light sleeper and very noise sensitive. I didn't hear a thing in the room, and between that and the blackout shades, slept really well.
The hotel is centrally located and very walkable to downtown and many major sights.
Plus, there is free local beer in the lobby every evening.
I will most definitely stay here on future trips.

Great location for shopping and all that downtown Seattle has to offer, the federal court house, etc. Easy walk to Pacific Place center with shops, restaurants and theaters and downtown Macy's, Nordstroms and other major retailers. If you are shopping, easy walk to take packages back to room and hit the stores and restaurants again! Slightly 'quirky' in that front desk staff has facial piercings, tats, but very friendly, helpful and competent for quick check-in. Free wifi in room but the business center allows only 15 minutes a day free; after that you pay for internet access. They do offer free boarding pass print for your flight. Two elevators only and they are very small and very slow at times when housekeeping is using them to move from floor to floor. As mentioned earlier, rooms are small, as is bathroom but it works well for an individual travelling alone. If you are a couple or a large person, it could be very cramped. (Other hotels such as the Westin have much larger standard rooms). Room was clean and since I kept the fan on low at all times, it was quiet and I slept well except for occasional downtown emergency vehicle siren. In room snacks, water and room service prices were unusually pricey in my opinion but since food and snacks are available in an easy walk, it was not a problem. If you are looking for slightly 'different' hotel stay and ambience, this would fit the bill. Hotel hall walls are black and room doors have a different black and white screen print on each door. Clever idea and unique as you step off the elevator. My stay was fine but I would opt for a different hotel in the future mainly because of the poor elevators and small size of the room.

Room Tip: Back side of the hotel above 6th floor is quieter with some view of neighboring condo garden area.

small rooms, but that's ok--you know that going in. very small bath tub/shower with way to small/short shower curtain -- it needs to be longer to avoid water getting all over the floor. wanted to like it more. everything was great except for the bathroom really. housekeeping didn't change the burned out bulb when left at base of the -- for 2 days straight. hard, not firm beds.

Hello there rkm5395!
Thank you so much for staying with us at Hotel Max on your recent travels to Seattle. Furthermore, thanks for taking the time to share your story with TripAdvisor. Overall, I'm sorry you didn't walk away feeling like a rock star. We let you down!
I appreciate your comments about the shower curtain and will be working with Housekeeping to ensure that we order the appropriate size for that series of room. Also, thank you for letting us know about the burned out bulb. Our team was able to replace the day you departed and please know we are working on a system to ensure that these simple oversights don't happen again.
Again, thanks for staying with us and if you are interested in staying again and experiencing another room with a larger bathroom don't hesitate to reach out.
Safe travels this holiday season!
Cheers,
Kevin Scott

This hotel reminded me of some of the more cramped places I've stayed in Manhattan and central London. It's around the corner from the monorail station. Housekeeping ignored the "do not disturb" sign.

Hey there Larrysez,
Thank you so much for staying with us at the Max on your recent travels up the coast to Seattle. Also, thanks for taking a moment to let others know about your experience. You are correct! As an older building we often get compared to boutique hotels in NYC and Europe. We love it and definitely believe it plays into the overall experience.
After speaking with our Housekeeping team I learned that they were vacuuming the hallway and might have mistakenly bumped your door. I'm terribly sorry and please know that our guest's safety and privacy is of the utmost concern.
Again, thank you for staying with us and we wish you safe and pleasant travels this holiday!
Cheers,
Kevin Scott

We spent two nights at this hotel and we were glad we did! First of all the hotel was in a great location- only 5 mins away from Pike Place Market, easy to get to and from the airport on public transport and close to all the main shopping.
The room was clean and modern with a nice view of the city lights. The bed was also really comfortable and we slept very well during our stay.
After a long day of walking and exploring, it was nice to return to our hotel room and unwind. For those interested in not straying far they also have a restaurant located inside with lots of options for drinks and food.
Overall really loved the hotel and would recommend this hotel for those visiting Seattle!

Been staying monthly since before it became the Max because of the location, which is great. The latest improvements such as the restaurant are exceptional, the staff is great, and always accomodating.
I recommend it to all my friends.

Hey there 539davee!
First and foremost, thank you for your continued patronage over all these years. We love hearing from guests who stayed with us when we were the Vance Hotel and to hear how they've grown to love the Max. Also, thank you for taking the time to highlight the latest improvements we've made in regards of our restaurant, craft beer hour and soon to come local coffee program. And who can forget our team?! I've said it before and I'll say it again, they are truly what make the Max rock.
Again, thanks for staying with us on your travels to Seattle for business and look forward to welcoming you back in 2015.
Happy Holidays!

Hotel was great, staff was extremely nice and very helpful but beware - the rooms are small and the bathrooms are TINY. However, it's perfect for a trip to explore Seattle and settle back into the hotel after a day of sightseeing.

Hey there ma3joo2a!
Thank you so much for staying with us on your recent travels to Seattle and for taking a moment to share your story with the TripAdvisor community. We are elated to hear your kind words about our hotel, our team and the service they provided. They take such pride in providing unique and personalized service to each of our guests. As an older building we've got some one-of-a-kind rooms. Some of these are small (our Mini category) and some of them are larger (our Max category). We feel there is a room for everyone. Many times it just depends on what brings you to Seattle.
Again, thanks for staying with us and we hope to welcome you back to experience one of our Max rooms in the future.
Happy Holidays!
