“Very tiny rooms, but trendy”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2013

The art work all over was cool, however rooms were small and that was the tiniest hotel bathroom i have ever seen. The entire bathroom was the size of the water closet of our next hotel on our trip. The staff was nice and tried to be helpful, but got wrong outdated information on a couple of occasions.

Location was satisfactory and recommendations from the front desk clerk was helpful, but the it was difficult to overcome the size of that bathroom.

“Awesome experience and I didn't even stay there”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2013

I recently spent some time in Seattle for a conference and a friend decided to stay in this hotel. The staff was happy and the several members with whom I interacted were extremely helpful. The rooms were quaint and funky at the same time. The public restroom down stairs was very clean and had a nice vibe. When I visit Seattle again in the near future, this hotel will be at the top of my list though it may not work for families.

“So cold and small it made an igloo look warm and spacious”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2013

The only reason to stay at Hotel Max is the location. After reading the reviews from other users we specifically asked for a larger room since they are known for putting Priceline reservation holders in the smallest rooms. We were given a room so small that our 4 suitcases could not fit in the room and it was directly in front of the elevator door. We went back to the desk and asked for a larger room away from the elevator. We were moved to room 307 in the corner on the back alley side. It was 34 degrees outside in the middle of the afternoon, we walked in the room to find the heater was completely off. We immediately cycled on the heater, left our suitcases and went for a walk in the cold to pike place. A few hours later we came back the room was still freezing so we cycled the heater a few times and ran the shower at full hot water many times to let the steam warm up the room. It took a full 36 hours to heat the room.

The room was not much larger than the first but it did have a almost full bath, however only one person can use it at a time, too cramped to share the sink. Ask for extra towels, the marble floor is too cold to walk on barefoot. We made use of every bit of space we could find for our luggage, not much space to even walk around the bed. The bed was ok, not as good as the bed at Silver Cloud Stadium or Hotel Monaco or the Sheraton around the corner, but that is what you get sometimes with Priceline. The room was clean and we did not find bedbugs. There was some noise from buses and garbage trucks but it was not constant. There were only pull down shades over the windows, no curtains to insulate the noise or temperature.

They charge premium for everything. If you need wifi bring a hotspot or go to Starbucks next door. They use too much space including the mini fridge filling it with items for sale. There is a tiny closet with two robes. They say the robes are "luxurious", they could be had fabric softener been used and if they weren't sized for a giant which is ironic given the size of the room. But you can use them as extra blankets on the bed.

In summation you can stay at any other hotel in downtown Seattle and have a enjoyable stay. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone even someone I don't like.

“Fun boutique hotel, good location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2013

This is a fun "art" hotel. I found it was a bit cheaper than most of the surround chains and had an interesting vibe.

You can definitely tell the hotel was a remodel from something older. It lacked the sterile neutrality most chain hotels have in them

Yes, the rooms were on the small side, but decor and the bed were nice. The window mount AC was ok and I had no problems with the noise in my room.

My feeling is that if you get the room at a discount compared to the Westin or other neighboring hotels it's a good deal

“Overpriced and too small”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2013

For $160 a night you don't even get soap or free wifi.
The walls are paper thin and the rooms are barely 10X15.
The coffee was terrible.
Zero free parking. Pay lot across street or find street parking
Room was very drafty

Room Tip: Better for business travelers than vacationers

Dear Daniel B (Woodinville, Washington, United States) on 1/7/13,
Thank you for the feedback. I am sorry to learn you felt the hotel was over priced. There is soap, shampoo, and lotion in every room therefore if the soap was missing we forgot it. All the hotels in the city charge a valet fee and ours is $7.00 less than the average in the city. We often promote packages that includes valet parking so please keep an eye out for that. We hope you will change your mind and stay with us at the Hotel Max.
