“Despite the dark palette, a lovely hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2013

The room and beds were exceptionally comfortable, and the hotel was in a great location. I'm a little tired of the endlessly dark W palette - but despite that, the hotel was terrific. Staff were very accommodating and polite. The breakfast, while on the expensive side, was awesome. Try the crispy egg. We had a person in our party who can be a little particular, and upon learning this, the wait staff went out of their way to make sure her meal was delivered at exactly the right time and in the right condition. Granola, yogurt and fresh fruit were great as well.

After a long and tiring trip from Vancouver to Seattle by motorcoach (because our Amtrak train broke down), walking through the doors of the W was like entering an oasis! From the moment we stepped foot inside, we never felt out of place. The concierge and front desk were warm, welcoming and helpful.

We instantly understood the vibe of the hotel when we got off the elevator on the 15th floor - the dimmed lights and the violet lights gave the halls that "nightclub" feel we read about when learning about the W brand.

The room was big, open, clean and modern. While the furniture could use an update at some point down the road, it was in good shape.

The W is about a 4-6 block walk from all the action around Pike and Pine, and there are lots of great little places to eat in the neighbourhood.

At night, unwinding in the Living Room (lobby) with drinks from Trance (the hotel bar) was a nice way to cap off a day in the Emerald City. Free wi-fi in the common area draws business travelers and tourists downstairs and gives the space an energetic feel.

I would have no hesitation staying at the W Seattle again in the future, and now feel compelled to price shop and talk myself in to other W Hotels on future vacations!

Very pleasant stay overall. Room was very comfortable, staff polite and helpful, and hotel restaurant had wonderful food and atmosphere. Easy walk to market, monorail to space needle, and century link field

My husband and I travel a lot and we could not remember the last time we stayed in a hotel with no curtains, only blinds. Sadly, on our trip we couldn't sleep late because the light trickled in at around 6 am. And they didn't have any coffee / coffee maker in the room either which most hotels seem to have these days. I am a Starwood member but this my first time at a W. It was a nice trendy hotel in a great location but I likely will not stay there again and will warm people about it unless they upgrade these rather standard amenities in their rooms. (Also, they didn't replenish the tiny body wash and shampoo tubes after 2 nights for 2 adults - we had to ask for it.). Staff was friendly though.

Room Tip: It's okay if you don't mind the sunlight coming into the room early in the morning

Nice area and neighborhood. Neighborhood is not too touristy.
Walking distance to Pike Place market and shopping district.
Walking distance to piers since you are on 4th Avenue.
You can walk to the Space Needle area (brisk 20-30 mins) or towards Safeco field.
Excellent for business travel.

Room Tip: Ask for upgrades, if available, for no additional cost.

Very helpful staff, although the concierge didn't realize the University of Washington was graduating when he gave us directions to our destination. That said the staff were v. pleasant. Typical W style- dark and brooding. Room was on the smaller side but fully functioning, decent glimpse of the water, and had everything we needed. The food at "Trace" was surprisingly good- would even recommend going there. Location is city center, easy walking to most places, including the waterfront, uphill on the way back.

Room Tip: Ask for a water view, otherwise you are facing tower blocks.

I stayed at the W Seattle mid-week on business. It was a very quick stay and I was really just in need of something comfortable for the few hours I would be sleeping there. The hotel was very quiet - much quieter than any other W I've been in before - which was a nice touch (maybe not so much for a fun trip or a weekend). Checkin was super fast and friendly, and the room was clean and modern. I had a good meal and cocktail at Trace (it was pricey but the portions were substantial) and then went to check out the gym. As with all hotel gyms, it was a disappointment, but it was completely empty (someone in the elevator told me it was wall-to-wall packed in the morning). I was a little more disappointed when I started to settle in for the night - I had left my iPhone charger at the office but was excited that there was an iPhone charging/audio dock beside the bed, only it had the 30-pin connector. I went to the phone to call and see if they had an adapter for iPhone 5 but none of the buttons on the phone worked - they all resulted in a busy signal. Eventually I dialed 0 and someone answered after ringing for a very long time, and told me they didn't have any adapters for iPhone 5 - seems like a pretty big oversight for a brand that tries to be modern. I was also surprised it was so hard to get ahold of someone.

Overall a nice property but would expect more on the service side.
