“Too expensive for what you receive”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed today NEW

I realize the Seattle area is expensive and I realize downtown can make it even more so. However as a business woman with decades of travel under her belt, I feel this particualr Westin does not have the value to match the cost. One must pay for rooms on higher floors. The valet parking is over $50/24 hours, and the room amenities are basic. On the positive side the location is great for walking to the Pike Place Market, the area shopping malls and some nice restaurants. However those things do not justify the cost of a basic hotel room in a downtown location. The restaurant is a high priced burger joint for goodness sake. This is one Westin I simply can't recommend even if the beds are heavenly.

Room Tip: For a room with a view you will have to select something on floor 30 or higher and expect to pay a p...

Green Features: The have a good recycling program in the room and will give you a credit of $5/night you don't have maid service. The $5 can be spent on the overpriced food in the restaurant so that helps a little.

My wife and I spent four days and three nights at the Westin Hotel in Seattle last week. She was there for a conference of Surgical Residency Programs and I went along. The location on 5th Avenue was great. You can get on the monorail and go about a mile down to the Space Needle and the Chihuly Gardens and Glass Museum there without much effort or cost. The harbor is 6 blocks away, about a 15 minute walk, and another direction from the hotel is a 15 minute walk to the Pike Place Market and the Aquarium. The hotel itself was not special and rather expensive even for a downtown hotel. They wanted $68.00 a night to park the car so we turned the rental car in while we were there. The restaurant Relish was nothing special and the service was not only slow but indifferent, except for the manager who was trying to make up for everyone else. The room was fairly small due mainly to the circular towers and the view was nonexistent (only other buildings taller than the hotel). The concierge was available and helpful. The facilities were adequate but had limited electrical outlets. I would stay there again simply because of the location, there are numerous good restaurants within walking distance.

Room Tip: Try and stay in a room away from the street level noises, it was loud on the 14th floor.

The hotel is conveniently located in downtown Seattle about 2 blocks from the Westlake light station; do yourself a favor and take the $3 35 minute train ride from the Airport to save time and money. The staff is friendly. The rooms are clean with good amenities. Decent fitness facility and pool. Walking distance to everything. High floors have great views

Room Tip: High floors will have good views

This hotel is lovely and clean. Small touches that make Westin hotels comfortable and unique.
The most comfortable pillows and beds.
The lobby, coffee shop and bar could use updating though.
The views from the rooms are amazing!
I found that the lobby was huge, but not as classy or as impressive as other Westin hotels. There's no incentive to stay in the hotel to eat and drink.
But the rooms are great, big, clean and comfortable.
We ordered room service for breakfast and it was excellent, a real treat.
The bathrooms are big and wonderful.

Room Tip: The higher up, the better the view.

Thank you so much for your kind review! We are so delighted that you were able to stay with us and enjoyed our heavenly beds and wonderful room views, as well as our large bathrooms, and even had the change to order a little room service! We appreciate the suggestions for our lobby and hope you will come back to visit us after our next round of renovations that will encompass our lobby and some of our public spaces. We can't wait to have you back!

Have stayed here on an umber of occasions when flying in/out of SeaTac. Last time checkin was slow as lrge tour group was in just ahead of us. We waited on them despite our status as SPG Gold Elite. Room was alright but needs updating. Seems this establishment has chosen to pursue the large group market (conference, convention, tour group trade) which puts a damper on for us. We now stay closer to airport and rent a car---save money and avoid large group hassle.

Thank you for your review and choosing to stay with us when flying in and out of our airport. We are sorry to hear of your delay at check-in. We do our best to prioritize our guests beginning with Platinum members, and do offer a seperate check-in line for SPG members. However, if there are group members at a similar or higher status they do take priority on a first come, first serve base. We do hope you'll consider staying with us again!

I had a great experience here. The room was huge, and very clean. My view was amazing! Staff was friendly. Nice gift shop.
Would definitely stay again.
It was convenient walking distance to the convention center as well as Pike Place Market.
The cons were the coffee shop which said it served Starbucks coffee, but the mocha was not Starbucks. Evidently it's just the plain coffee thar is Starbucks. The restaurant had a very very limited selection as well, so I only ate there once.

I've become progressively less enchanted with Westin over the last several years. They're not awful, they're just mediocre. I stayed here because it was a meeting hotel for an organization I am an officer in and I was trying to be a good member; in truth, I wish I would have stayed elsewhere.

Issues?
-Starwood has changed their green choice program from what it used to be. It used to be that if you chose to not have towels/ sheets laundered daily that you got the incentive. Now you have to fully decline housekeeping. Why is declining housekeeping any more "green" than not having my linens laundered?
-Check in was the worst hotel check-in experience I have had in years- and coming on the heels of a long travel day was completely unappreciated. Although there were either 4 or 5 agents at the check-in desks when I arrived, they were ALL being monopolized with a group that was checking in individually and making lots of requests about room locations, etc. It was approximately a 15 minute wait for them to get this group sorted through...and once I was done waiting my own check in process was arduously (and unnecessarily) slow with an agent who was so "helpful" that she ended up being obsequious.
-Rooms are stale and drab and need renovation. There's just no way to sugar coat that. I did rate the rooms average simply because the views are nice.
-And the bathrooms in the lobby/ meeting spaces? Horribly outdated, and just plain disgusting for the most part. I left the meeting space to go back to my room after one adventure in the lobby bathroom. Yuck.

Thank you for choosing to stay with us for your company meeting. We do have a green choice program in which declining housekeeping nets you a $5 food and beverage card. If however at any time you need your garbage emptied or require additional needs like coffee you are welcome to alert the front desk and have your needs taken care of. We are deeply sorry for your extended wait time at check in. As you can imagine as a group participant there are often a lot of changes and needs to be met at check-in and we appreciate all our guests patience when waiting in line. It appears your function took place on the lobby level. We have just completed a multi-million dollar renovation of all of our meeting and event space on the upper levels and look forward to our next transformation encompassing all of our lobby and public spaces. We do hope you'll come back to visit us after our transformation is complete!
