“We love this place.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2013

If you're looking for first class this isn't it. It's a little worn, and it needs a little attention. But the price was right, it's centrally located and the staff are really friendly. My husband left his cell phone in the room and the manager was really helpful in getting the phone returned to us (unlike when we were in Italy...) It's also across from Sazerac, a very nice restaurant. We'd both book there again.

Not sure why people are grading this hotel down. Here's the real scoop: 1. Its old. There's some wear that needs attention. We overlooked it. We didn't come to Seattle for a hotel room. 2. Its small. Who cares? We didn't come to Seattle for a hotel room. 3. Someone commented on the glass doors and small size of the bathroom. Its a bathroom. We didn't come to Seattle for a bathroom. 4. The service was VERY friendly and gave us excellent recommendations.... like Tulio, a wonderful Italian restaurant two blocks away. One of the best meals ever. 5. They only have ice machines on the 5th floor... big deal. 6. Very reasonably priced and in a super location. I'm recovering from knee surgery and the walks are easy to handle. 7. Clean, comfy, and yes, they do have AC. Not sure what place another reviewer stayed at.

Booked this hotel through Hotels.com. Mistake! They gave it a 4star rating and for $225.00 a night I thought I could not go wrong. Boy, was I mistaken. When we walked into the lobby, our van driver questioned us as to how we chose this place. That was the tip off. A guest was sitting in what truly should not be called a "lobby" talking on his cell phone very loudly. Since we were arriving at 10:00am our room was not ready. We left our bags in a secure room and left. We came back at 4pm to a room with a horrible smell and a strange spot on the blanket on the bed. I desperately tried to make other hotel arrangements but could not afford the $600 a night at the W as the only alternative. We then asked for another room. The new room smelled, but not as bad as the first and had no mystery spot on the bed. The room barely fit our luggage. The AC was a unit under the window that was very loud. The street noise was interesting. The "frost glass shower door" as the bathroom door was over the top in ridiculous. We always try to stay at places that are as clean as our home or better, but this place felt like skid row. Need I say more.

Room Tip: Go to another hotel!

Thank you for your comments, we are sorry that you felt that it was a mistake, Hotels.com has rated us at 3stars rather than 4 and I apologize for the
guest speaking loudly on their cel phone. I have shared your experience with our Executive Housekeeper and Engineer so they may address the A/C,
smell, and spotting on the throw blanket. I can share with you that all our of our Bathrooms are being renovated, our elevator will be replaced
as well as our carpeting throughout our facility. We do hope that you will return.

We have stayed here before and automatically searched for a room there when planning another trip to Seattle. Excellent hotel and staff. Smaller rooms but who cares?Clean and all we needed.
Stanley - the valet/doorman/all around great guy was AWESOME! So helpful and gracious! You have a great employee there - don't lose him! We'll be back!

I like the location and the atmosphere of this hotel. The room is small but the location is good. Pike market and the wharf is in easy walking distance.
The first stay is amazing but the hotel got worn out so quickly one year after.

Saw all the reviews regarding the small room size---true, but, unless you're planning to spend five waking hours in your room (and not sightseeing) what difference does it make? The hotel is very clean, in a great location and has a very helpful staff! What else do you want in a hotel? My wife and I spent two nights at the hotel and woud definitely stay here again. This is very much a boutique hotel.

This is clearly an old building and many things just seemed seedy or in need of renovation. The room was very small (as in NYC-small) and the bathroom was both small and strange--like it had been partially updated in weird ways. There was peeling wallpaper in places and the room also reeked of that "hotel sanitizer" smell which always says "cheap" to me (and is entirely unnecessary). The air conditioner malfunctioned. On the upside, the bed was quite comfortable and shower was great--despite having a low height. There were also plenty of convenient power outlets and an iPod dock. Overall we were disappointed with the environment, but can't complain about the price!
