“Basic hotel in a great location.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2012 via mobile

We needed "just a room" in Seattle and did not want to spend a lot of money. We would be checking in after midnight and leaving by 7 in the morning. The hotel is a very old building. The rooms have been updated but are very small. Ours had a musty smell to it. The sheets had a few small holes in them, but the bed was surprisingly comfortable. We were on the side of the public library on the 7th floor and although a bit louder than other hotels in the city in regards to city noise- it wasn't bad. The location was amazing- it seemed like everything was 1-5 blocks away. BTW- there is no restaurant- therefore no room service. The staff at the front desk were friendly.

This hotel is old. They have done "just enough" on the surface to make you think it's up to par but if you look too hard you'll see the flaws. I was not impressed. The electrical outlets in our room were so old. They had LONG extention cords running around the room (behind a piece of plastic) so they could get you enough plugs to deal with today's electronics. A fire hazard is all I could think of. The bed was very comfy. The TV had spotty issues and their "free" internet really sucked! We couldn't get it 95% of the time! We went to their "free" computer area and those computers were running OLD software. The bell boys were "Awesome", especially STANLEY! The desk staff were not friendly at all. We just didn't feel "pampered" in this place and we usually don't have many issues with places we stay at. I would not recommend this.

I was a little leary of the hotel from some of the reviews but after staying there for a portion of my honeymoon I wanted to write to tell of our wonderful experience at this hotel. From the beginning of our stay the desk staff and front door men were nothing but wonderfully friendly and helpful. Our room was wonderful as well. You can tell this is an older historic building by the size of the rooms as they are quaint, but they are well taken care of and have everything you need for your stay. You can't come to this hotel expecting the Hilton, because it is a remodeled old mansion from the early 1900's, so they did an excellent job of updating the hotel, but you are able to tell it is a building with history behind it. The woman working at the daily complementary wine reception gave us some great history on the building which was very cool to hear. Which brings me to my next plus, free wine! It was a great way to start the night, daily at 5pm they opened their wine reception where you can gather with other hotel guests and drink the complementary wine before heading out to the city. I would definately recommend this hotel as we also got a GREAT price online by prepaying.

Room Tip: The elevator is old and somewhat loud if you have a choice ask for a room further from the elevator.

The room had a musty smell to it but if you left the window open during the day it helped out with the smell. The room was very tiny especially the bathroom but I didn't spend much time in the room so it was fine. Best deal in the area. Especially if you have a pet under 25# they stay or free. Parking sucks no in and out privelidges.

Very conveniently situated to transport and the water front. Nice restaurant opposite. Very friendly staff. Complimentary wine tasting in the afternoon was a lovely touch and enabled us to meet other guests. Room slightly "tired" but very comfy bed, everything worked and it was clean.

Overall a very good place to stay.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel in July when we came to see a couple of ball games. It's in a prime location. The hotel is an older building but has tons of character. The beds were very comfortable and the price was reasonable. We did leave something behind and the amazing staff went way out of their way to have it returned to us at home. Thank you so much!! We'd be happy to stay here again.

First of all, parking is awful!!! And the staff is far from helpful in the matter. So we were not off to a good start. Then I got to my room, thank goodness I was traveling alone! The rooms are so small, I couldn't even find space for my luggage!

If you're lucky enough to get a room on the Spring St side, like I did, you will hear "Caution: Car Exiting" all day and most of the morning, evening and night as well. There is a parking ramp directly across the street that has this blaring whenever a car is leaving the facility.

I had the room temp set to 85 because it was still blowing cold air! Seattle was only about 65 during the daytime, so you can imagine it was like an ice box in my room.

Overall, not impressed. I would never stay at this hotel or recommend it to anyone traveling. Don't let this hotel ruin your experience of this beautiful city!

Room Tip: Rooms on Spring St are really loud all day & night!
