“Mayflower Park (Seattle) -- This older hotel has real class!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2013

We stayed two nights in June 2013 at the Mayflower Park Hotel in Seattle prior to boarding a Princess cruise ship to Alaska.

We paid about 25 percent extra to upgrade to a mini-suite, and I think the money was well spent. I'm certain all the 180 rooms in this circa 1924 hotel have been refurbished to a very high standard. Their only weakness is that rooms tended to be smaller when this 16-story hotel was constructed nearly a century ago. However, our mini-suite provided us with a small living room, and an excellent view, making our experience more than satisfactory. The decor was absolutely first-class, as well as comfortable.

The hotel has a good restaurant, Andaluca, and an top-rated bar, Olivers. In visiting the bar on three occasions (two were delicious light meals), we noticed groups of affluent Seattle residents on each occasion enjoying the bar's ambience and its excellent cocktails and service. We also received very good service and advice from the concierge and the front desk staff.

True, Seattle has a number of 4-star hotels, and one or two true five-star establishments. The Mayflower Park delivers at the very top edge of the 3-star category. In fact, given the excellence and helpfulness of its staff, I probably had a more lasting positive experience that I would have received at one of the Westins, Crowne Plazas, or other 4- or 5-star institutions that deal in much larger numbers of guests.

A small negative -- the elevators move at a much more leisurely pace than their counterparts at the newer high-rises.

Incidentally -- and primarily for female travelers-- the hotel is located across the street from Macy's and a block from the giant Nordstrom's department store. Another fashion boutique is across the street from the hotel.

Also, the hotel is 1.5 blocks from the end of the light rail train service from Seattle's airport, which costs $2.75 each way, compared to a taxi fare to downtown costing more than 10 times that amount. The only negatives are a rather long walk from the airport's baggage claim to the railhead (follow the crowds through the airport's multi-level parking garage), and the 8 or 9 brief stops along the way.

Room Tip: Ask the front desk for a room with a view on a higher floor.

When we booked a night at The Mayflower Park we were not at all sure of what to expect. Sometimes reviews can be misleading. But our experience drove me to write this review. This property is at a perfect location...just a walk away from the Pike Place Market. It has Macy's across the road and many other retail options round the corner. The Space Needle is a short ride away and the Museum of Flight just a 15 minute bus ride away. Next is the service. Check in and check out was smooth. In fact though our check in time was 12 noon our room was ready at 8.30 am! We had friendly staff to help us with our many pieces of luggage (we had just got off a week long Alaskan cruise). The room was done up in old world style. We are a family of 4 and the two queen size beds were very comfortable. Breakfast next morning at the cosy Andaluca restaurant was wholesome and delicious. Oliver's Lounge is a smallish bar but the feel is good and the service great. On the whole a blemish free experience for a night. Would definitely recommend.

Room Tip: Perfect for families getting off the cruise ships in Seattle.

We were in a room with 2 queen size beds. This hotel had the most comfortable beds. I hate hard beds but these mattresses had great support and felt luxurious. The 2 full bathrooms were lovely and had everything you needed in them. The room had great block out curtains, which was ideal as we arrived at 11pm and were very tired. The cleaner obviously didn't look under the bed at all, as we found a pair of women's shoes from a previous guest. On the first night we could hear a baby crying in the room next to ours, so sound proofing was a bit of an issue. The staff were accommodating and friendly. They even allowed us to borrow umbrellas when it was raining outside. We had drinks in the bar at Happy Hour, which included complimentary peanuts and a couple of warm snacks, which you were able to help yourself to.
The hotel itself was in a great location, easy walking distance to so many things. Macy's is just across the road, so we spent a great deal of time in there and it was a blessing when our suitcase needed replacing. Taxi fare to the cruise terminal was really inexpensive and we managed to get there before those waiting for a prearrange shuttle. I would stay here again, as the bad points were only minor ones and the good far surpassed them.

My son, nephew and I stayed here after a cruise. The hotel was very nice and the staff was very friendly. The room was clean except for a used band aid on the stem of a glass. However, the maid was right outside the room and took care of it immediately while apologizing profusely. I would definitely recommend staying here. The location was the BEST! They were close by everything. We never had to take any kind of transportation.

We stayed at the Mayflower Park as both a pre and post cruise option and it was a very memorable experience as we celebrated our Anniversary here to begin our cruise to Alaska. The location to both Light Rail from SeaTac and the Monorail to the Space Needle also provided extra options for exploring and savings on transportation. Our package included a daily breakfast and my wife and I throughly enjoyed the quality and selection of the menu items which included daily specials.

The concierge made the arrangements to the cruise port convenient as well. We also appreciated the personal signed cards and gifts in celebrating our anniversary and then my wife's birthday on our return visit. What more can I say, but many heartfelt thanks to all the staff—you are the best!

extra gorgeous hotel with wonderful staff. Truly beautiful rooms but the bathrooms need updating. I understand that it is a historic property and the bathrooms would be difficult to make bigger but the bathtub itself desperately needed repair or replacement.

Room Tip: Bathrooms very small and need updating. Otherwise very comfortable clean rooms

I really loved this hotel. The location was amazing and within easy walking distance to SO many spectacular Seattle sites. Everyone was so pleasant and extremely helpful. Our room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. We were located next to the elevator yet we never heard it.
If we ever make it back to Seattle I would definitely stay at the Mayflower.
On a side note, our outgoing flight was cancelled and we arrived and departed a day later. The Mayflower had no problem changing our reservation for us! We were also able to check-in ~ 3 hours early. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. I hope this helps!
