“So, not cheap, but WELL worth it (IMHO)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2013

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Inn at the Market for 5 nights in August 2013 and I have to say, we loved it. The pros and cons for our stay are as follows:

Pros:
• We had the hotel car meet us at the airport and the driver was on time, the car was comfortable, the driver helped us with our bags, and we were whisked directly to the hotel for just a little more than a taxi would have cost.
• We arrived a bit early and our room wasn’t ready, but the bell desk stored our luggage and we were able to go explore Pike Place Market for an hour or so before checking in.
• Location, location, location. Right in the heart of Pike Place Market, the location could not have been better for us (we are tourists, after all). The hotel is also just a few blocks from the monorail to the Space Needle. Or, if you are like my girlfriend and I and like to wander, the Space Needle is just a 20 – 30 minute walk. This also gave us the opportunity to explore some of the great shops and bars/restaurants up 1st Avenue through the Belltown section of Seattle (fantastic mac & cheese and velvet paintings collection at the Cyclops Grill & Lounge!).
• Access to great food. OK, so this is another plug for the location, but we not only ate at some great restaurants in the area (e.g., Seatown, Le Pichet, Café Campagne, Matt’s In The Market, etc.), but we grabbed some great fresh food in the market (i.e., fruit, cheese, bread, oysters, cured meats, and wine) for a picnic.
• The deck at the Inn at the Market for above mentioned picnic (see photos)! We were lucky to have fantastic weather, but the views from the deck at the hotel are truly fantastic. It is on the 5th floor of the hotel and overlooks the market and the Puget Sound. To be clear, this is not a bar, but a public space for people staying at the hotel to use – which we did on several occasions! Indeed, it became a bit of an oasis for us.
• The room was large and well appointed (an in-room coffee maker! – unlike almost all Hilton hotels now). The bed was EXTREMELY comfortable and there was a safe in the room.
• The bathroom was also large and well appointed with plenty of towels and good products (e.g., shampoo, lotion, etc.).
• The staff at the hotel were great - professional while being warm and welcoming, helpful without being pushy.
• And finally, I have to say, the minibar prices are surprisingly reasonable. When was the last time you saw that!?

Cons:
• Very few and very minor. First, when our room wasn’t ready initially, the girl at the front desk took our number and said she would call us when the room was ready, which she did not do. It did seem she was covering for the regular staff briefly and she was young (thus the use of the term “girl” – I would be surprised if she was out of her teens).
• There only seemed to be one icemaker on the 6th floor, which made it a slight trek to get ice.
• We tend to be somewhat “green” in our approach and were a bit disappointed to see that there was no hotel card, as in many hotels today, to notify staff to reuse towels and not change linens daily. Perhaps our room was just missing one and the hotel does actually do this?
• Finally, the shower curtain in our room was hung too far inside the tub, so that it kept sticking to you when you showered.

All in all, the cons are really just nit-picky stuff that I honestly had to reach for, and none had the slightest impact on the overall quality of our stay. The hotel is certainly not inexpensive, even by Seattle standards, but I can’t imagine anyone thinking it should be, especially given the pros I’ve listed. As such, I highly recommend this hotel for anyone wanting to stay in the heart of Pike Place Market with easy access to many of the other downtown sights of Seattle.

Dear Guest:
Thank you for taking time to prepare a great summary for the readers of tripadvisor, it is very helpful how you divided your review into Pros and Cons. I am sorry that our team did not contact you when your room was ready we really try hard to have rooms available when you arrive a the hotel, with check out time being noon. We are in the design phase of remodeling our guests rooms and will be addressing the shower curtain concern. We look forward to welcoming you back on your next visit.

We decided to spend Sunday & Monday in Seattle, & I chose the Inn at the Market because I hadn't thoroughly explored Pike Place Market for quite awhile. We had a townhouse suite on the 7th floor, with an expansive view of Elliot Bay, the Olympics, and Pike Place Market. In the downstairs part of the suite, there's a Queen sofa bed, 2 comfortable chairs, a small table and a bar area off to the side. Up some very steep stairs is a very nice bedroom & the only bathroom, along with another sitting area and small table. The Inn has a very pleasant outdoor courtyard, with outside tables from one of their restaurants, Marche. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There's another restaurant, Cafe Campagne, that serves excellent casual French/American cuisine, plus an outdoor bar and a Korean restaurant that we didn't try. A half block down the hill is Pike Place Market, one of the best farmer/artisan markets in the country. You can get anything from fresh fish, organic produce, artisan offerings from jewelry, photography, paintings, clothes & the usual tourist stuff. We shopped there both Sunday and Monday, coming away with bags of food and gifts. The Inn is only few blocks away from major retail shopping, the Seattle Art Museum, and the waterfront. A great place to stay if you want to explore Seattle.

Room Tip: I would highly recommend a room with a water view

Dear Guest:
Thank you for highlighting your stay here in Pike Place Market. There is so much to do, see, eat etc. right at our door steps, wandering through the market and gathering some items to enjoy on our 5th floor deck is a great thing to experience.

For the true Seattle experience, you must spend time in the Pike Place Market. Why not do it in comfort and luxury. The Inn at the Market is in the heart of it all surrounded by fantastic food with stellar views. The room we had was surprisingly quiet considering that the market had an event that ended at 11:00 PM. Of course, I love the hustle and bustle of the city. The room was spacious and spotlessly clean with a bed that you sink into. I visited on a warm summer evening - taking advantage of an evening drink on their roof top deck, but it would be just as fun to visit in the winter.

Room Tip: We were upgraded to a Puget Sound view on the third floor - ideal because it gave us a view of the P...

We loved this hotel. The staff were fabulous, anything you need!! The bed was very comfortable, room was spacious with a great view, best bathroom ever. It is sadly our day to leave, my husband said "we will stay longer when we come back next year. For a great breakfast tip a short walk to Le Panier bakery for a raspberry scone is a must. We will definitely be back next year and stay longer

Our anniversary celebration was nothing shy of amazing. The enthusiastic, warm and friendly staff made us feel at home the moment we stepped in the door (until we regrettably had to return home to Florida)! The Inn at the Market team has raised the bar to a level that we feel other Inns/Hotels will have a difficult time obtaining. Cheers to them on their efforts, and we hope that we will be able to travel to Seattle again in the future and spend our time in what was, in 36 years, our most memorable travel stay to date. Best wishes, with our sincere gratitude!

The location of this hotel is outstanding and the main reason we chose to stay here. Our room had a great view of 1st Avenue, right accross the street from Pike's Market. From here, it is an easy and enjoyable walk to Pioneer Square via 1st Avenue or Alaska Way along the waterfront. Also, the monorail to Seattle Center is about three blocks away.

The hotel lobby is tucked away off a courtyard where several small restaurants are located. Our room was extremely comfortable and surprisingly quiet. It had a window seat that overlooked the corner of 1st Avenue and Pine Street.

The staff here were great. They were friendly, helpful and efficient. I would definately recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a downtown hotel.

My son and I had a 24 hour stopover in Seattle on the way to a family funeral. We knew the next week was going to be tough, so we wanted to be at our most relaxed to start out. He was coming from D.C. and I was arriving out of Anchorage. Knowing all this, I wanted a quiet spot but the Inn was booked up. Reservations suggested that the room reserved for the disabled was available, would I be interested. I had visions of hand railings etc...maybe not the mood I was looking for. Bus as we talked I learned that it had a great view of the Market, a window seat, an extra large bathroom and I decided to try it.

Our room was huge, lovely and no hint of catering to a special need. In fact, this is the place to stay if you do require assistance. The room was comfortable in the extreme, and I especially enjoyed having my morning coffee propped up against a pillow in the windowseat watching the early morning goings and coming at the Market below. The night before we enjoyed a glass of wine on the roof top terrace gazing at the bay and the lights while we planned our next longer stay at the Inn.
