“Good Food, Good Beer”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2012

Liked the atmosphere, the choices of beer, the friendliness of the staff. I had the mac and cheese and it was excellent. My friend enjoyed his dinner too - just don't remember what he ate, but it disappeared quickly. We tried a couple of the beers and enjoyed them all. There seemed to be a number of students around, and it was loud, but acceptable.

“Skip it! Over-priced...flies buzzing around the table...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2012

We stopped here after reading YELP and Tripadvisor reviews on this restaurant. I was excited to try their beers and of course, to get the supposedly free baseball cap you get for ordering a sampler of beers. We were told, upon being seated, that you can only get the cap if you have the ship's coupon book. What? All the waiters know about the deal, but they refuse to give it to you unless you have the scrap of paper. Seriously? OK, my fault right? Let's move on.

We were seated near the right side window on a bar top w/bar stools. There are flies EVERYWHERE in this area. I don't know why, but it was disgusting and we were swatting away flies while eating our overprice Fish & Chips. The Fish & Chips were average tasting, but they cost $18. Definitely overpriced.

The Spruce Tip ale was good. If you come here, just get beer. Skip the average tasting over priced food.

If you want the cap, don't forget to bring the ship's coupon book. Our waitress was kind of a hippie and she was super cool. I didn't know girls wore dreadlocks. Nice.

TIP---the bathrooms here were relatively clean....but the area leading up to the bathrooms were not. Trash was piled around and over the trash cans. At least we weren't seated here. The people sitting here looked super uncomfortable. Yuck.

“Great place for beer and food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2012

Like almost everyone else, we were there off of a cruise and stopped in here since the Red Onion was so packed. It turned out to be a good decision. Although the place was very busy, the waitress was very friendly and prompt with our order even though there were 10 of us. We tried the beer sampler because we had a coupon for a free hat with purchase, but to our surprise, the beers were really good and so of course we continued "sampling". Not only were the beers good, but so was the food. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a place to relax , have some beers and grab a bite to eat.

“Great choice of real ales.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2012

Another set back in time Skagway attraction, less hectic than the Red Onion and with a nice choice if you like proper beer or failing that the usual Amercan fizzy stuff aplenty.
We didn't eat but thye food looked OK

“not worth the wait”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2012

We waited about 20 minutes to be seated, not a problem, however we waited another 20 minutes to get a waitress to to come around, she was not to interested in answering the ?`s about the beers they brew, when we finaly got our order my chili was cold & the "huge burger" they brag about wasn`t all that huge. The most annoying thing is when they bring the bill, it has an 18% grat added, no matter how the service was!! Not acceptable for 2 people, poor service, cold food & already overpriced. I will not be eturning.
