“What a Gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2014

The museum is a nice place to visit. Very reasonable price to enter. The staff was wonderful. The museum it self has Civil War artifacts as well as a real cotton gin and of course the General! In the back is the Georgia French Merci box, this is what really thrilled me. Since I had seen the Rhode Island Merci box this was just icing on the cake. The gift shop had sourveniors that matched the museum itself, not just the standard stuff you can get in any shop. Prices in the gift shop ~ just right! If you have a chance stop in and see this really nice snapshop of history.

“Nice surprise in downtown Kennesaw, Ga”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2014

I had passed by this place a number if times before I finally stopped in. Took my two teenage daughters, one that has a serious interest in history and studied this stuff in class recently. She was able to recall quite a bit and was fascinated by the items and stories held in this building. We took the tour while here and they did a very good job detailing some lesser known things that helped understand the personal struggles of the war. Watched a film about the great train race and got to see the actual train which is housed here. My younger daughter has not studied this time in history and was not as interested in the tour. We spent about 2-3 hours touring the museum and had a pretty good time. The price was not bad considering we could have spent another hour or so really going into great detail of the items I this museum. Worth the time and money especially if you enjoying this time in history.

“Great museum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2014

We were passing through and saw the sign. My husband and son are big Civil War buffs, so we decided to stop. So glad we did! The general is just the beginning. This museum has an impressive collection of Civil War artifacts. There is also a collection of steam train manufacturing molds, machinery, and historical records. If you have little ones, there was an exhibit area just for them filled with hands-on, interactive stations. (My kids would have loved it when the were smaller.) if you're in the area, stop- you won't be disappointed!

“Excellent museum!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2014 via mobile

Very nice museum on the civil war, they also have exhibits on how locomotives were made back in that day. Worth the price of admission. In some locations, lighting could be better, if you have trouble reading in low light, you might want to bring a flashlight. Some displays had lights that were not working, but in general, displays were professionally done. They also have the locomotive "General" on display.
