Happened to be there on a weekend with lots of activities. Learned a lot. Liked the demonstrations. Didn't have time to hike.

“Excellent History and Lovely Park”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 19, 2013

The park is gorgeous in itself. The history was very interesting to us, the museum explains it well!!! Make sure you drive to the top, a fantastic view!!!! On our drive down, we saw several deer on the hillside.

“Kennesaw Battlefield”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 17, 2013

I could not think it possible to visit Kennesaw without going to this park. A small but excellent museum of military memorabilia for "The War of Southern Independence". The park has some excellent hiking trails. They can take you by long forgotten rifle pits on your huffing and puffing way to the top. The summit finds cannon emplacements and various lookout points to view the grounds of that battle site. There is a road to the top if you'd rather drive. Nice little picnic park if you just want some open space and fresh air.

“Learn about the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 12, 2013

We visited the museum. Later we hiked the mountain. As we hiked I paused to think of the victims - both North and South - of this terrible slaughter battle site of the Civil War.

“Beautiful and full of history”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2013

This place puts the Georgia Civil War and the Burning of Atlanta history into perspective. You are at the gateway to Atlanta in the civil war. Makes you realize the sad struggle of everyone involved in this conflict to defend their ideals and achieve a way to victory.
The exhibits brings a lot of information, then the walk to the top of the mountain helps you see the actual battlefield, the cannon emplacements, the hike that the troops had to make to bring ammo, supplies and take care of their fellow warriors.
What a sobering experience...
They have nice reenactments of Civil War Era drills and camps. Also shows on cannon firing, formations and troop movements over a wide manicured field at the foot of the mountain. This park is always busy, but worth the visit.
