“We were outraged from the start!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2012

We booked three spots, three months in advance for two nights. Two Rv spots side by side, and one tent spot. We had several other friends book random other spots to be near us. After showing us where to park our camper and trailer, we noticed cars with kayak trailers in one of our reserved spots. They refunded one night for that spot, but we had to double up our trailer and camper in one lane, making it really tight and inconvenient. They did nothing to get the unauthorized vehicles out. Must have been their friends. Many times other people were cramming their cars in between our spots, no control at all. Next day, the same cars there, we were told if they didn't move, they were going to tow them away. Nothing happened. The violators came after 11pm the second night! It rained for two days/nights straight. The camp ground for tents became a lake. They did not keep up with the grade of the terrain to provide any drainage at all. We asked for a refund on our spot the second night, that we never used. They tried to argue their way out of our refund. Never again will we go there.

MillersLanding, Manager at Miller's Landing, responded to this review, August 3, 2012
Miller's Landing, and Lowell Point are both heavily used access points to Resurrection Bay. As such, people launch from here in both kayaks and boats to explore the park system. Even though people are told not to park in campsites, they will sometimes do it anyway, we're often fully booked, and this causes a problem. There was a vehicle with a kayak trailer in the site mentioned, we have heavy equipment but without breaking into the vehicle it's likely we would have damaged it trying to move it. They were not affiliated with Miller's Landing, they were not friends of the crew, they were kayakers camping in a remote location. In fact the parking pass was only for 1 day, so when the site was found to be full we immediately refunded that night of stay, and assumed the car would be moved by that evening.
Unfortunately, the people didn't return that night, and after a little more research we found out where they were camping. We actually sent a boat to that location to pick the keys up, and when we got them (at 11pm the next night) we moved their car. I personally refunded the money for both the first and last nights and there was absolutely no argument regarding it. I feel like Miller's Landing went out of its way to fix this problem. Yes, maybe we should have had the vehicle and the trailer towed right away by a commercial operator. In trying to put myself in the position of the kayakers who mistakenly parked their car in a campsite: coming back from the wilderness to find their vehicle was missing and they had a huge bill didn't seem like a fantastic position to be in either. It was their fault, and it would have been a much easier complaint to respond to: "you towed my car!" "you parked where you shouldn't have" is a little more black and white certainly.
While we understand you had a bad experience, we hope you can bring yourselves to consider how hard we worked to fix this problem as well. We actually dispatched a boat to recover the keys to the car so we could safely move it.

If you're looking for clean and spotless facilities and wide open campgrounds..this may not be for you. We stayed in an RV overlooking the ocean for 3 nights. The mountain and ocean view was incredible but the daily views of sea otters and humpbacks just did it for us! The staff was extremely helpful as well with transportation to/from town as well as helping as find an alternate tour when our whale watching trip was cancelled.. I would definitely go back.

A wonderful, exciting and lifetime memory stay on the 4th of July week.

When we arrived on the 3rd we were somewhat skeptical. It was raining, so the drive in was muddy, and we were unable to get our RV on the site we had been assigned.

The staff quickly came to the rescue by bringing gravel to the site and building up the road so we could get on it. When we could not get our RV level they cut blocks and brought them to us.

With the rain still falling, My son and I ventured to the store to see what was going on. While he joined in a game of Tug-o-war on the beach I talked with a charming lady (Kate) on the porch. As the tide came in we were actually able to see Fireworks from Seward!

The rain seemed like it never stopped, but our fun didn't either. On the 4th we caught a ride into town with Kate, and saw the Mt. Marathon race, then when we were ready to come back...miraculously Kate appeared again and gave us a ride back!

We sat in the front seat of the RV and watched humpback whales swim up the bay! The view of the bay and surrounding mountains was SPECTACULAR!

I would highly recommend your campground to anyone planning on visiting Seward! Furthermore, I have already recommended it to several people who had not intended on Seward as a destination. Millers Landing is a MUST for a great trip to Alaska!

Thank you to the Millers Landing staff for helping to make our vacation GREAT!

I stayed at Miller's Landing for 2 nights in July 2012. When I booked my stay and excursions, the Miller family provided outstanding customer service, including finding me a tour with another vendor when they thought that would be my best option. I stayed in a tree cabin and it was comfortable and a fair value for the cheap price. The bathrooms were very clean as was the laundry. The campground was crowded and the best part of was that everyone I met lived in Alaska. Local clients tell me this place runs a good business. The road to Lowell Point did have potholes but it was regraded the morning I left. This is the most unique campground I have ever stayed at and the location is amazing. If you want a cookie-cutter, KOA experience, then this may not be the place for you. But if you are looking for a reasonably priced way to "camp" and you still want campground amenities, stay at Miller's Landing. It was a highlight of my trip.

Loose dogs EVERYWHERE!!! Having small children and small dogs I really didn't appreciate the myriad of loose dogs (pit bulls, black labs, and numerous other large dogs) running up to our campsite.

Great location- lousy campground. The owners have packed in so many spots that you can read the novel the neighbors are finishing in bed - the place is over-run with loose dogs - and we got to hear the folks next door party and relate their latest romantic exploits and tattoo locations until 3 a.m.
Great place for underage drinking - but lousy if you want to actually get away from the annoyances of the city when you camp. Will NOT be going back!

This place was wonderful. I had such a great experience here. We got the opportunity to go sea kayaking and our guide Ben was both experienced and relaxing. If you like Yoga make sure you check out the yoga kayaking. The cabin was nice and the pot belly stove is a nice touch. Would most definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Get the cabin and grab some fire wood! PERFECT.
