“Great value”

Hotel Seward

I stayed here for two nights in early May. My rate was only $70/night and with a 2-for-1 coupon I effectively paid only $35/night. Granted it was off-season but even then it was an excellent value.

Hotel staff was very friendly and answered my several questions thoroughly and politely.

The hotel shows some signs of wear but I was very pleased with the room and the location. There was a fridge and microwave in the room which was great. Free parking as well. Easy walk to the Sealife Center and to the shops/restaurants in town. I would definitely stay here again.

We LOVED the Hotel Seward.
The previous review talked about 'renovations.' We stayed in the Alaskan Wing and found no such thing. When speaking with the front desk, who were EXTREMELY friendly, they did mention something about putting in a lounge and remodeling in the Historic wing, but we didn't encounter any noise and wouldn't have even known about these so called renovations if no one would have mentioned it.
The views were beautiful, the staff was friendly and knowledgable, and the rooms were comfortable.
We will definitely stay again soon!!

“Didn't like it!”

Hotel Seward

May 14, 2008

This hotel is old, and when we checked in it was being remodeled. They didn't mention it when we called. I wouldn't have booked a room there if I knew it. Anyhow, the room we stayed in was very small, didn't smell good and the bathtub looked like it was ready to be replaced.

“Good view of the bay, dated decor”

The view of Resurrection Bay is great if you get an ocean view room. It comes with a big bay window and a good size table and chair set so you can relax right there. Loved the view and the laidback vibe. The decor is a time warp from the late 70s, I'm guessing... I found it funny but if you are expecting a stylish room you'll be disappointed. All the furniture and even the bathroom fixtures, etc. were from another era. The desk people were very friendly. Seward itself is a little bit of an odd mix of people and places that time forgot, so the hotel just reflects that. You can walk to a bunch of restaurants and tourist shops one street over in "downtown" Seward (about 4 blocks big!) and to the SeaLife aquarium and to the oceanfront.

Stayed at the Hotel Seward from 5/13-5/16/07, and can not say enough good things about the hotel.
From the room, to the great staff who could not do enough for you, we would highly recommend this hotel.
We were originally booked for 2 nights, because of a fishing trip, but ended up staying an extra day, because we enjoyed ourselves so much.
They have 3 types of rooms, and I would recommend the "room with a view" which we chose. Nice view of the bay from the windows with the mountains in the background. The room also had a fridge, microwave, and coffee pot.
The hotel is conviently located to many good restaurants and the Sea Life Center.
Many thanks to Tim and the rest of the staff. The 24 hour coffee in the lobby was great.
Hope to be able to stay with them again next year.
