This hotel is extremely well located for taking a cruise or taking one of the several whale watching trips. All are in a short walk from the hotel. The hotel is clean and updated and the rooms on the water side facing the boats and mountains are by far the best. Some have balconys that you can sit on and watch the boats and fins come in. Worth the extra price.

Room Tip: Book on the water side with balcony

Stayed here for the third time, this time with friends. We had a great time! We enjoyed the hot tub several times, and found the breakfast bar to have something for everyone. It is conveniently located; additionally, there are cabs that will take you anywhere in Seward (proper) for $5. The staff was friendly.

We chose the Holiday Inn Express in Seward, because we hadn't ever been to the town, and it's a small area with not a lot of choices. We figured a Holiday Inn was a safe bet, even though it was twice the price of the others. And it was okay - free breakfast in the morning, friendly staff, and predictable room decor, comfort, free wireless, etc. ...The only complaint was the lack of good curtains in the room. In Alaska in the summer, it stays light until almost midnight, and with our 11-month-old, we needed to be able to have a dark room. But the curtains left a lot to be desired - none of us were able to sleep until late into the night. You'd think that Alaskan hotels would take the long days into account, so that was disappointing.

Thank you for taking time to let us know about your guest stay experience. We are currently in the process of replacing the black out drapes. With the beautiful summer of Alaska for some the long daylight at times takes some getting use too. I am sorry that this had a negative impact upon your stay, but we are looking to fix this issue soon. Thank you for staying with us and we hope to see you again. Have a great summer. Tha Holiday Inn Express Team.

Please be aware when checking in that you should ask for the 3rd floor. You can hear everyone above you and during our stay there were kids running up and dow the halls. We had to call 4 times before they moved our room and of course to move we lost our balcony room. The rooms are clean but i would definately ask to be shown you room before checking in as they are not the same. The breakfast buffet was not kept full with good items however i will say that the staff said they were completely full and just coming off low season.

Room Tip: only consider the 3rd floor in my opinion

I am truly sorry that we left you with a less than memorable guest stay experience. We strive to make all of our guest feel at home away from home, and I am sorry that we missed you feeling that in your stay with us. We hope that you had a great vacation in spite of all this. May you have a wonderful summer, and a great year. Sincerely The Holiday Inn Seward Team.

As part of whale-watching cruise package, we stayed here for one night. Rooms were clean, front desk was nice (no above and beyond but nice). View of the harbor is indescribable - to say its beautiful isn't doing it justice. Seward is quite expensive & isn't very big, so bring extra cash. Don't plan on staying too long.

This was a quick one night trip to Seward before the true tourist season starts next week. Booked standard room for $89 for a Saturday. Room had all the normal amenities: mini-fridge, microwave, coffee maker. Our room was next to the housekeeping room so I could hear cupboards being opened & closed from about 6am on. Each floor had vending machines & ice. Breakfast was a bit better than continental; biscuits & gravy, pancake machine, cereal, yogurt etc.; good enough breakfast to start the day.The breakfast room is larger than most hotels but I could still see it getting busy during the summer peak. The parking lot was way too small for a hotel this size but I suspect most visitors come by train pre or post cruise; we had to park across the street in an area that requires payment during the summer season. Location was easy walk to everything in town, cruise port included although I wouldn't attempt it with luggage. Would definitely stay here again! FYI, prior to May 1 many stores and restaurants are still closed for the season so the ones that are open tend to be busy this time of the year!

We had an excellent stay in Seward! Our room was slightly larger than a normal hotel room, but the way the furniture was arranged made it feel HUGE. We had a beautiful mountain view, loved the nighttime cookie treats, delicious breakfast and had an amazing time swimming in the pool (we were the only ones both times). The employees were super friendly and our room was very clean.

Room Tip: Beautiful view on the 'cheaper' mountain side too.
