“Seabird Encounter is wonderful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2013

My wife and I toured the Sealife Center in Seward and paid the extra money to do the seabird encounter. We basically got a "backstage" tour of the facility and a chance to feed the puffins, auklets, common murres, and other seabirds. It was a really nice up-close, hands-on experience to remember. We spent about 1.5 hours at the center, touring all of the exhibits (one of my favorites was the seal aquarium) and feeding the seabirds. They also have a nice "please touch" tank with all manner of sea life like sea urchins, starfish, anemones, etc. A great place for kids, even though we don't have any.

“Birthday Tour!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2013

Love to go! Nice people, always interesting and fun to see the wild sea life tenants! My hubby's birthday and the gift shop had fun t-shirts and cookbooks that we couldn't pass up. Wish the wind would have died down, Seward was a bit breezy.

“Marine Mammal Encounter”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2013

My son and I did the Marine Mammal Encounter and we can't say enough good things about this program. My middle school son has a strong interest in marine science and I want to keep that spark of interest fueled so we had to check this out. The guide and the animal handlers are very knowledgeable and interesting. We have visited the facility many times over the years and it was very interesting to see it from the nuts and bolts side of it. There is a minimum age requirement that makes sense once you see that side of the operation. Yes there are bigger facilities outside of Alaska to entertain the family with but this one really does provide an incredible benefit to Alaska's wildlife.

“Nice small town Center”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2013

The Alaska SeaLife Center is a nice place to visit in Alaska. It will not impress anyone who has viists SeaWorld or any larger citie's aquariums but it fits the small town of Seward, Alaska. The bird enclosure is nice to go into because you are able to get reall close to the birds, watch them fly overhead or 'swim' underwater. The largest tank was closed during our last visit so that was a little bummer but we enjoyed our visit anyway.

“Definitely do the Puffin Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2013

My girlfriend and I visited in the winter, and both love wildlife. The SeaLife center is located in one of most beautiful bays I've ever seen. The center itself is small; don't expect anything like Sea World. We went through the main part in about 45 minutes, but then we did the "Puffin Experience" they offer. This is totally worth it. You get to go behind the scenes of everything, and even spend a lot of time feeding the various puffins and birds they have. We learned a lot too. Highly recommended!
