This is more than an aquarium - there is so much to learn from a visit to the Sea Life Center. It's small, layed out well - take your time & read all the exhibits, watch the movies they run - you will walk away with a new appreciation for the marine life in Alaska and challenges they face. For an additional fee, you can get a behind the scenes tour with a staff member. We wished we had the time to do so, as we heard it was excellent.
When we visited, they had among rescued animals, 2 baby walruses, rescued in Barrow - you could only look down into the area where they were being housed and observe the staff interacting with them. Other pools could be observed from a distance. The sea bird exhibit was entertaining watching them swim & dive - the puffins are like lil clowns when they clean themselves. They have tanks AND more tanks with fish - I finally learned all the five kinds of salmon in AK. Also sealions and other marine life.
This is a must when visiting Seward !
