“Poor Fishing Experience”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2013

We sent two from our group on this boat and they only caught a total of 3 fish between them for the entire 6 hour trip. Even though it was pegged as a salmon trip, only one individual on board caught one salmon. It seems as though this ship had no idea where to go, as all the other boats were coming back loaded. In addition, we went fishing with Miller's Landing earlier in the week and caught loads of fish, so clearly this was just a very poor experience. Another problem was that the crew were smoking right by the passengers, so it made it a miserable experience for them. While this may be the least expensive experience in town, you truly get what you pay for.

“OMG We had the best time on the open ocean.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2013

The crew of the Rainisong are the best~we had so much fun and caught a boatload of beautiful silver coho salmon. The guys were on the fish early in the day and we started catching fish right away. The excitement was palpable and everyone was in a great mood.

Thanks Rainisong !!! The best crew ~ the most comfortable boat with two heads and plenty of space for everyone's gear. The boat was warm, the coffee was hot and the music was rock and roll.

I will always go with Seward Fishing Club.

“Deep Sea Fishing Experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2013

It was our first deep sea fishing experience out of Alaska and the seas were rough. Our boat captain Jimmy got us through it while other boats were returning. There was some nice scenery to see but Jimmy didn't boat out anything...if you didn't see it or somebody else point it out you missed it. I would recommend the captain pointing out interesting things like glaciers, whales, sea otters or sea lions. Justin the first mate was much more engaging with the charter guest but he isn't driving the boat. If you go fishing get a spot in the back of the boat...all of the people catching fish were fishing from the back and I noticed all of the experienced fisherman made sure they got a spot back there. Would recommend that the captain have everybody rotate their spots so all people on board have a equal shot off the back of the boat. Wasn't sure if my wife would enjoy this experience but she really did and it wasn't the best day to go out in terms of weather. We did end up catching our 2-limit of halibut because they knew a place where we could catch them for sure but they weren't big but it was still a lot of fun to catch them. Only regret I have is not getting a spot on the back of the boat. If you use this charter don't worry about getting there before 6:00am because they don't open until that time and it took about 2 and a half hours to get there from Anchorage even with road construction.

“beautiful ride for some salmon!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2013 via mobile

I read some negative reviews about this charter after having already purchased tickets. I had a great, fun experience. lots of seating, lots of space to move around (we only had 9 people fishing today). the guides like to joke around a little bit, but only in good fun. they moved us around to increase chances of hooking salmon. I definitely learned a lot and had fun. we even got chocolate chip cookies at the end. I would go again!
