“Breeze Inn is very average - not worth the price”

This hotel had a great location, but it was way overpriced for the room. We paid a premium to get a mountain view room to find out that they were under construction, building new rooms blocking our view. The construction noise went on all day, thankfully not at night. It was a very average motel room at $179 per night. I think you can do much better than this in Seward.

stayed for 1 night in june, arrived by train left by shuttle. breeze inn very convenient, directly across from harbor, tour booking companies, restaurants, shops, close to train depot. my room was in older building with construction but was not bothered by it. my back window looked out onto highway but also river and mountains, so it was nice. room and bathroom were clean, which is my biggest concern, always. tricking finding entrance and "front desk", but they were helpful. and the price was better than some of the others.

This property is advertised as being waterfront. There are 10 second floor units which look towards the waterfront, over the main street and businesses across the street. The rest of the units either face onto other units or onto the highway. Ours looked out over a construction site, where they are adding new units (they don't look over the water either).

The price is more reasonable than other properties and our unit was clean and reasonably well appointed. However, we were disappointed to not have a view and moved on.

We stayed in mid June 2007. When we made reservations, we were assured of air conditioning. When we arrived later in evening (after 5 pm) and got a room in the older part of the motel with no a/c and although the room was large, it was just like a motel 6 or econolodge. All for the price of 139.00. The bathroom was so small we had to straddle the toilet to close the door without bumping our knees. The construction below us started at 6 am and there was very little parking. I don't know what the management was talking about in the response to complaints of construction, it was all along the older part of the hotel!
We had to have the windows open and the guests next to us were out on the walkway smoking, with their smoke flowing right into our open window and talking to people in parking lot 3 floors below until past 10 pm. We booked a non smoking room and the 3rd floor was all non-smoking. We had to go down to the lobby and complain. Reception was very nice and problem was solved but we would have liked a non smoking/air conditioned room as promised. My husband prefers air conditioning vs an open window and it was certainly cool enough outside it was just that we thought we were reserving an air conditioned room. So, I guess I would use the Holiday Inn rather than the Breeze Inn if I went there again. They probably don't worry about returning customers. We just missed the little touches that matter, like extra pillows, certainly better towels, nicer bedding materials we found all over Alaska. Not very impressed with room but the people were very nice although they don't follow through with promises.

Spent 2 nights at the Breeze Inn. We were in one of the rooms in the newer section and had a lovely view of the harbor. Our room was comfortable. The location is great if you are interested in booking water excursions. It is also within walking distance of some nice restaurants. The management was very nice and helpful. We would definitely stay there again. If you are looking for a comfortable, but not fancy, place to stay, I would recommend The Breeze Inn.
