We were on our way to Seward when we saw this great little shop. What we discovered inside was a father and son who make incredible knives. The grandfather started the business and now there is a third generation knife maker. Virgil and Hunter Campbell explained how all their one of a kind knives are made and gave us a tour of the back room. We enjoyed learning about the art of knife making. The Campbells are well known and their knives are collectible. Virgils wife, Dawn, makes the personalized leather sheaths for each knife - she is also a volunteer fire fighter and a wedding cake baker. A real Alaskan lady!
We enjoyed hearing stories about how one of these knives have saved lives in survival situations. We also enjoyed hearing the story of a late night visit by a famous rocker (Steven Tyler & his band) as they stopped in the shop and bought out the inventory.
My husband is very pleased with his knife and plans on buying a knife for each of our sons for Christmas.
This is one stop you'll be happy you made! Very education and entertaining!
