“Close to the coast, delicious breakfast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2011

We didn't stay long here as we had a pretty jam packed schedule, but for the short time that we were there, it seemed like a great B&B. We stayed in the upstairs room and the bathroom was down the hall, but was private and for our use only. It is located very close to the coast and there is a great walking trail close to the B&B. When we arrived, we did not find any signs outside the house indicating it was the B&B. There was a subtle Sunshine ornament outside though. Breakfast was delicious and was plentiful. They keep the doors unlocked all the time so you can come and go as you please. Wish we could have stayed here longer!

When we drove up we almost pulled away. No sign out front only a small "sun" to the left of the door. It looked old, but when we went inside saw that it had been recently (2 yrs.) totally redone beautifully. Marsha was a great host, and served the best meal we had on our trip one morning - an egg with salmon her husband caught casserole. Her suggestions on activities and restaurants was perfect

Room Tip: The Blue Room on 1st floor was big and bathroom new

We stayed in the upstairs room on our honeymoon and had a great time. It was quiet and confortable (the bathroom was really nice!). Marsha and Mike are super friendly! They were very responsive during booking and made it quite easy to arrange. The breakfasts were amazing! We stayed for fours nights and didn't eat the same thing twice. Everything was home made nad very tasty! The location is great. All of Seward is accessible by foot from the B&B. The touristy part of downtown is 15 minutes away, historic downtown is less than 5 minutes away, and you can pretty much see the sealife center from your room. We had a great time and would highly recommend it!

My husband & I spent two nights at Sunshine House at the end of our Alaskan vacation. We had the best night's sleep of our entire trip,
Marsha welcomed us to come right over even though we arrived in town early. Both she and Mike went out of their way to engage us and were friendly & professional. Mike offered binoculars for our boat cruise while he, Marshe & Uncle Jerry ( a bonus!) prepared, fantastic FULL breakfasts - some of the best ever. Mike was disappointed we couldn't eat more.
We had the downstairs bedroom, a large freshly painted room with ensuite full bath. The shower head was amazing & lots of lovely bubble baths, soaps & extras were provided. A small refrigerator stocked with bottled water, homemade lovely quilts, comfy pillows & free wifi made the spacious room even better.
To top it off, the rate here was a bargain compared to other B& B's in town, many of whom only serve a continental breakfast. The location is ideal as well, within walking distance of many Seward attractions.
We felt genuinely welcomed at Sunshine house & really enjoyed Mike, Marsha & Uncle Jerry's Alaska stories.

We had an excellent stay here, easiky the best band b we stayed at. Mike conjured up the tastiest omlets with home made smoked salmon and Marshas cheese spread. Marsha made us delicious pancakes with her special brand of sourdough. She was nice enough to give me some starter to take home with me.We stayed for 3 nights and got a different breakfast eacn morn, frittatas, casseroles, potato latkes and spiced roasted potatoes. Far cry from the bagel baskets you get at other band bs.
Rooms are quite comfortable and Butchy is a great doggie once he gets over his shyness.Would recommend without hesitation, the only suggestion being the weak wifi signal. However, this is just a minor point, and I would definitely recommend this B&B in Seward

We and another couple stayed here in July, 2011. We had the upstairs bedroom which was very tastefully decorated with a handmade quilt. The bathroom was in the hall and had been newly remodeled. The floor was like a foot massage - awesome! We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfasts with custom made omelettes -ummm! salmon! - and the sourdough pancakes with delicious syrup. The breakfasts were by far the best in our three weeks in Alaska. All the while, there was wonderful conversation with Mike and Marsha. It is only two blocks from downtown Seward and a great bargain. We would definitely stay here again when we return to Seward.

Room Tip: Downstaris has attached bath.

The house was clean...the breakfast was fantastic. The lady of the house truly puts the charm on this place. Her husband however was a completely different story. I had every intention when i left this place to write a stellar review of how nice and awesoem this b&b was. Unfortunately when we left the b&b, the lady gave us our bill. She said it was $75...I actually gave her $80 and didn't ask for change bc she did such a fantastic job. We drove back up to Fairbanks..during that 8 hour drive...the husband left 4 messages (each getting more and more rude) about how we were short in paying them $3. yes...that's right THREE DOLLARS. I called him back to say that we would send him a check for $3 as soon as we could...he DEMANDED that we send payment immediately. Folks..we're talking $3 dollars, not to mention that it was their fault given that she did not tell me the right amount when we were paying her. I was so shocked and disgusted i didn't even know what to say. Next day I put $5 cash in an envelope and told him to go get some manners with the change.

Bottom line...nice stay...but i wouldn't go back given the disgusting customer service.
