“Beautiful Kona”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2013

This is a large resort with all the bells and whistles but is very quiet and relaxing. If you want to see Hawaii without the hustle and bustle of a big city, Kona is the place. The pool and bar facilites are really good and across the road from a beach area. It is a short walk to the shops and to find food. It has all the facilities that you are after and more. The rooms are clean and comfortable with a balcony. There is wifi in the room and computers in the lobby. Staff are really helpful and we could hire a car from the hotel, no fuss. Our stay here was way too short, we wish we could have stayed longer. An ABC shop is part of the hotel, plus a coffee shop and other small stores. We will definitely be coming back here.

Room Tip: Hire a car from the motel lobby and drive around the island. Yoou can stop and check out the sights...

I wasn't so pleased to get a room on the 2nd floor, with the roof of the reception area outside the balcony as our view, but we had a little view of the ocean as well. Nice room with a little fridge. Beach small but nice to have one, pool as well. Very quiet, didn't get any "resort feeling". Nice little gym. We wanted to go to the luau but they were sold out. When we returned, staying at another place, the price for the luau was higher. Apparently you get a discount as a hotel guest. When I found out and asked for it, they were nice and offered us the lower price as we had stayed there a few days before.

Aloha!
I am very pleased to hear that you were able to come back and enjoy our oceanfront luau at the lower price. We do however sincerely regret that your accommodations were not as you had hoped in terms of the view. We appreciate your feedback and we would welcome the opportunity to host you in the future.

We stayed here as part of a package booked through Hawaiian airlines. The rooms are clean, comfortable and relatively new. Most (all?) have a small balcony. They appear to have been (well) renovated not too long ago. The rooms are quiet and the service is unobtrusive. The staff are very friendly. The location is great - right on the water front in Kailua. Many cafes, shops, bars and restaurants are easy walking distance. There is a big parking lot ($12 a night) which can fill up on luau nights. This is not a resort, you are on your own, although I'm sure the concierge would book things for you, if you wish. We thought that it was great value, although because it was part of a package, I'm not certain what we paid. I'd recommend at least a "partial ocean view" room. The roadside rooms in the east tower looked like they could get a bit noisy. Very satisfied.

Room Tip: Choose at least a partial ocean view. The west tower is probably quieter.

We were left stranded by an unscrupulous condo owner who cancelled our reservation as we arrived in Kona. Although we eventually secured a refund, all the hotels were fully booked - no surprise. But the King K, with the expert assistance of Mr Gerald Cristobal, was able to offer us a room and subsequently provided kind and generous assistance to get us settled at a. Rey reasonable rate. Some hotels may have taken the opportunity to goige us but there was nonenof that at the King K. The location is perfect for those who prefer Kona over Waikaloa etc. and the amenities are superb. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and remain indebted to the professional and diligent service that was provided on our behalf. Yes, of course we would stay there again (and will) and we recommend the hotel to you as an excellent choice. Thanks to all.

First time at this place. It was ok. The location is good but it definitely lacks that "resort feeling" if that's what you want. The restaurant and pool areas are good but not great. The adjacent beach is nice also but it can get pretty crowded. The local restaurants are varied and convenient. I'll probably choose another place the next time I come to The Big Island.

Aloha,
Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. It's truly disappointing that although you've shared an appreciation for many aspects of our hotel, we were not able to fully impress you during your stay. Should you find yourself returning to Kona in the future, we would greatly appreciate the opportunity to change your opinion of our property. Many thanks again for your feedback, and we hope to welcome you back one day.

You can walk everywhere in Kona Village from here. Book a suite for a higher floor & better view! It is peaceful & wonderful! The beach is in a historic area, where the King of Hawaii lived. Gorgeous property.

Room Tip: Book a suite for a better views& not much more money.

Stayed @ this hotel for 2 nights for my honeymoon in 2012. Luv this hotel!!

Location: Prime, prime, prime location!! so convenient. Even the Christmas Santa parade is along the route of this hotel. Huge Lobby area!! Many retail store in the area, there are fast food joint as well (not my thing) and lots and lots of sweet local dining tourists can dine out.

Parking: This hotel have a giant parking lot by the side which guest have to pay $10/day, which is alright

Food accessibility: SOOO many restaurants and cafe by this area. I didn't try the hotel food; I always like to try local food which I visit other place. So instead we talked to local people and it turns out there are so many well-known places in downtown kona that offers DELICIOUS food (both expensive and cheap restaurants). Many retail stores in the area for shopping as well.

Wireless internet: Not bad @ all, pretty strong signal

Service: Very courteous service @ the front desk and the bell boy are super friendly. Upon checking in, the TV remote wasn't in the room so we called up the front desk and they replaced a remote within 10 mins, pretty impressive!

Concierge: now this is the part of the hotel I do not like, the concierge area is very small without seats for guests to discuss options. I know these things can take a while because I've stayed @ other 2 hotels in Hawaii and they both offers super concierge service with regards to activities you can do on the island and you can easily be talking to the staff for a solid 30 mins (maybe even an hour). The Courtyard concierge is not as helpful so instead we went to the Local Expedia Experts (super concierge service) @ Royal Kona hotel down the road and we booked a few activities there (snorkeling and para sailing)

Room: Gooood size room with comfy bed & pillows I wouldn't use their coffee machine though, their cups were stained.

Pool & Beach Accessibility: The pool is of decent size with hot tubs. We could fine chairs easily and the bar is just right by the pool so its super convenient. The 'private beach' is a plus for convenience sake. Very clean beach and its not super deep. Very busy though I gotta admit.

I misses Kona already; regret that I stayed in Hilo prior for 2 days....super depressing there with constant downpour in December.

Room Tip: The partial ocean view room with balcony doesn't give you much to see and is not worth the price...
