“Stay away from there!”

King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel

Terribly filthy hotel and unpleasant staff. Got bitten by bed bugs during the first night and had a severe allergic reaction. The hotel indeed called urgent care for me but I had to take care of everything else myself. They changed my room but offered me no other compensation eventhough my stay was ruined due to coffee cup sized red itchy bites and a acute antibiotic treatment. They just said I had to take it up with their insurance company once I got back to Europe. Furthermore, they did not tell me that the bugs might end up in the clothes until several days later. When I asked what they should do about it they instructed me to myself clean my clothes in the hotel laundry! I refused of course and had them dry cleaned but they tried to make me pay for it. The staff and especially the security office were extremely unfreindly and treated me like it was my own fault. I do not recommend anyone to stay at this hotel. Stay out of there!

I stayed here to attend a meting held at the hotel. Simply speaking this place is a dump. Old smelly carpets, elevators do not work properly, and everything seems to be at least 30 years old. Wireless internet access is available but works only intermittently in the room. It is also very noisy, there is a dump truck coming at 4am that surely wakes you up.

We stayed here for 3 nights. We arrived on a night when (supposedly) every room was booked. They had us waiting for a good 20 minutes as they frantically looked for vacant rooms. They didn't admit this to us, saying instead that they were "looking for an upgrade for us." Our "upgrade" left much to be desired. The room did not seem fresh & welcoming. The decor was something from the 60s.

However, the location can't be beat.

I returned home from my trip to hawaii to visit family to only find that something had returned with me bed bugs. I didnt even know they really exsisted but they do and this hotel gave them to me. I dont know if they have cleaned up since though i dout it. What once was a nice hotel is now just a reminder that all good things go bad.

“The Pits”

King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel

We stayed at the King Kamehameha Hotel in Kona for one night. The mold was so bad my husband ended up with an asthma attack. The rugs are at least 40 years old and had a musty odor. Something was biting me on the bed. We moved to the cheaper Seaside Hotel across the street, and while it was no palace, the room was clean.
