This is a great getaway from the more crowded and cliched tourist spots of Kona. There are loads of little galleries and local artists, including the Holualoa Ukulele Gallery which has a beautiful collection Ukuleles made by island artists. You can even build your own, which I did, if you have two weeks to spare. The owner of the gallery happens to be a master craftsman and will take you through all the steps. Also check out the restaurant for the area's highest quality food.
