“Tasty Fish n' Chips!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2013

My friend and I got Fish n' Chips & Coconut Shrimp in the cafe. It was pretty pricy for what it actually was but very delicious. Service was good, we were in the sun all day and didn't really want to drink and at first the waitress was kind of annoyed with s with just water but when we told her about our sun burns she understood. All and all good food and good service.

“Great Food - Great View”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2013

For a special dinner in the Kona area, consider the Kona Inn Restaurant on Alii Drive. Go before sunset for an awesome natural show! I had the fish special, I believe it was Ono (really excellent) but a bit high priced. The waiter was great, the ambiance was beautiful and overall it was worth the price we paid for the experience.

“Bad food and service never mind the roaches”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2013 via mobile

We stopped by for dinner. For seventy dollars we got cold nachos and the toughest ribs on the planet. When we spoke to the waiter he tried to up sell us on desert and drinks. And there were roaches scurrying around the floor in the dining room.

“A Kona icon remains constant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2013

This is a place I've been going to for decades. I love the location and ambience; belt driven ceiling fans, and you can walk out from the restaurant onto the lawn and step next to the ocean, great place for a sunset pic with Kailua pier in the background. The bar has been home to some luminaries such as Hunter S. Thompson (read "The Curse of Lono" before you visit Kona, just for laughs) and Lee Marvin and Richard Boone. So a lot of history, and the food is good as well. I cook a lot of fish, but still enjoy their signature fresh mahi mahi, mac nut encrusted. I see a lot of families with their kids come and have dinner and play on the lawn, and get the obligatory family sunset pic as well. Back in the day when there were far fewer dining choices this was always mine for a special occasion, and still is in the top. Also good for lunch, the calamari sandwich is what I usually have and enjoy. The center where the Kona Inn is getting pretty run down, we joke it is held together by termites, but the restaurant itself has kept renovating and still has a comfortable vibe. If you are looking for a place to try fresh fish, this and Quinns are it; stick with Ono or Ahi or Mahi, however, as these are three best. They understand how to cook ono without drying it out, an important fact, and grilled fish here is 'ono'. For a decadent desert, try the mud pie.

“Beautiful views!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2013

First off this is a great restraunt for the views of the bay. There are 2 sides for dinner. One side is fine dining and priced at $40.00- $50.00. The other side is priced at $20.00 and under. We go to the $20.00 and under side all the time. Great drinks that are lethal cause they are heavy handed with the alcohol:) and yummy coconut shrimp, salads, fish and chips and sandwiches.
