“Nice Breakfast Expirience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2012 via mobile

They're already opened at 6am which is good because we needed to start our day early.
The service was excellent, the ambiance was very good, and the food was not bad either. They had breakfast buffet which was awesome.

“Convenient, Waterfront & Quite New”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

We went for the Friday night buffet. Some in our group are very fussy in the very old person genre. Eating out can be difficult or it can be a joy. The beauty of the buffet is there truly is something for everyone. Very few dinner buffets I have attended are up to foodie quality, and this is not the exception to that. On the other hand, we arrived as the buffet opened, so everything was very fresh and hot.

The best parts in my opinion were the huli-huli chicken, cooked to absolute tenderness, moist, and not overly salty. The pork stir fry was also tasty. Fried won ton were pretty good, but in the sitting out for 10 minutes before they could reach my mouth, they were already becoming soggy in the moist environment. Same for the calimari.

There was a fish stew that was fairly spicy. It had shrimp, mussels, and bay scallops. Those kind of fish cannot sit in a stew pot, as they begin to lose their texture. The scallops especially do not lend themselves to this prep style. But the sauce was pretty good.

The french fries looked really good, but again, by the time you get back to your table, they are soggy.

There was some sushi, about super market quality. Again, too tough to prepare anything and keep it fresh buffet style. Shrimp, cocktail style. That works. Lots of salad stuff, but nothing of note there, and that is too bad, as a great salad bar buffet would have been scrumptious and held up.

The desserts were pretty much mid-tier. Sort of Marie Callendar style pies, a plate of cut up haupia that probably began its life as powder in a box. Some cookies and brownies. Two cakes cut into boxy squares.

Wine list has minimal variety - a pinto grigio, a pinot noir, a cabernet, and two or three others. They were passable.

The location is very nice. Across the grassy lawn is the bay, and the luau. The luau is not visible from the restaurant though. There is a choice of indoor or outdoor seating.

Overall, it is nice enough. It was good for us, as these truly elderly do not have the sort of patience to read through a menu and take their meal in leisurely courses.

“Good breakfast, average dinner”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2012

Had breakfast twice, and it was very good, with a nice variety and good quality. Dinner was average, and seemed limited. Food was OK, but the net experience below average -- more appropriate for a coffee shop rather than a resturant in a good hotel.

“disappointing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2012

We ate here twice. The breakfast buffet was very good and the service was excellent. We decided to have dinner there one night. The food was really very disappointing. My chicken breast was covered in marinara sauce, it reminded me of the mystery meat they used to serve in the dorms at college. The texture of the meat was like it had been chopped. It was too bad, it was a beautiful evening but the food was poor. The only reason I gave it an average rating, was the breakfast buffet was good. Go here for breakfast, but not for dinner.

“Best meal in kona”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2012

You will never regret spending a special evening dining at this restaurant!
Amazing setting- eat outside if possible- lit torches at night. Wonderful food/go with the waiters suggestions and you will love it! New items to try and specials. Our only dissapointment was on fri and sat night it is Buffett only. We don't care for that type of meal; but heard it was excellent from many guests.
Presentation of the meals were spectacular; desserts were wonderful too. We went there for desserts a couple of times. Also had a lovely breakfast there. Great coffee! Good margaritas!
You won't miss coming here!
Aloha'; we don't want to leave
