“Tasty fish, succulent calamari, and meaty shrimp”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2014

Whilst the batter is quite light, unlike English beer batter, the flavour of the food made up for it. Not bad prices and a really good amount of food.

“Good food at good prices”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2014

No views of the ocean here, but the food is fresh, tasty and the prices reasonable. Quinn's is filled with locals so you know the food is good. Parking is a challenge but worth the effort. If good pub food and a good dinner is what you're after at reasonable prices, then Quinn's fits the bill. Sit on the patio, it's lovely and avoid the bar noise and crowd.

“Fresh food and reasonable prices.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2014

We had never been there before so we followed our friends lead and shared an order of fish and chips and cold Guinness. The fish was fresh ono (wahoo). The other choice was mahi-mahi. Both are a little different from traditional cold water fish. The service was excellent. The prices were average for Kaliua-Kona. Parking can be a challenge at Quinn's but we found space across the street in the King Kam lot and our waitress validated our ticket for one hour free parking.

“Good location and great food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2014

This restaurant is located near the curve in Kailua Kona. It is usually crowded, but the food and service is worth the wait. Parking is a challenge; we had a group of eight and parked in the public parking and walked five minutes to the restaurant. We waited about 25 minutes to be seated, but it was very good.

“Better than average bar/restaurant”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2014

If better than average pub food is what you're after--and a place that keeps the same hours as bars on the mainland (well, almost. It's open until 11 pm) then this is the spot for you.

I went three nights during a 10 day stay on Kona, the first with a "local." This is considered a spot where the locals go, despite its location right across the street from the Marriott in downtown Kauliua.

The Packers gear makes it homey for me (I guess they do raging NFL gameday business during the season)

While they crow about the fish and chips, I suggest skipping that altogether. The fish had no flavor and the batter was tasteless.

Opt for the fresh fish sandwiches (usually Ono and Ahi thought sometimes just Ahi.) Go for the Ono if its on the menu. The grilled sandwich is tasty and the accompanying pineapple slaw was equally good.

The drinks are also pretty good--though I stuck to the $5 magaritas and was pretty satisfied.

The female bartender there most nights is ok. And I get that this is an issue with any locals bar, but she definitely tended to the locals more than the out of towners. They were routinely treated to her full-on surl while the locals just got a taste.

The nights I was there, I saw the local Kings of Anarchy motorcycle gang pull up. But really, it's a nice crowd and a good spot to catch the Olympics.

There isn't a whole lot of options in downtown Kaulua as many of you may find out. I liked a few spots--but if pub food and a good dinner is what you're after at reasonable prices, this Quinn's fits the bill. Even if you may feel a chill wafting from the bar area. Sit on the patio, it's lovely.
