“Exceptional service and a magical location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2014

We had our company holiday party on the Bayview grounds at the Sheraton Kona Resort & Spa and couldn't have been any more pleased with the beautiful location and the exceptional service we received from all of the staff.
Our contact Nicole in the sales department provided us with the upmost professional service and was very thorough with accommodating all of our needs. She is a true asset to that team and went the extra mile for our us. We sincerely appreciated working with her.
We also worked with Flo in the catering department, who did a fantastic job in making our vision become a reality and for pulling our event together for a magical evening! The food was great and the banquet staff and bartenders were right on it! Many compliments go out to the chef for the amazing prime rib station, as it was enjoyed by all!
A special thanks to Brian, Denise, and Henry in the Engineering department, as they were very helpful with our setup and they exhibited the true sense of aloha.

My family and I had a great time staying at this hotel. From the moment we pulled up to the resort, we were impressed by the service. We were initially greeted by Chris and Ronald at the bell desk who were very helpful in getting all of our luggage and items for the party to the correct locations. During check in, Chad did a great job in making us feel welcomed and appreciated as guests. The resort has a great pool that is perfect for kids and a fun waterslide for all ages. The rooms were very clean and the housekeeping staff was very sweet. They certainly know how to create a "home away from home" environment for their guests.

This is an amazingly beautiful resort with amazing views of the ocean and fantastic grounds. I would highly recommend any company event at this resort. The team there at the Sheraton represents what Hawaii and aloha is all about.
We hope to be back next year!

Where to begin with this place

Its like a Ferrari thats had all the insides taken out so when you look at it from the outside, your like yes thats a Ferrari and its very nice to look at but when you actually have to get inside it and look around you very quickly realize it just dosent work

The first issue is food service from the buffet to the room service this place is lacking, why they just let birds fly around the breakfast buffet is beyond me, better yet where they get the sign off from the health inspector on that is absurd. They literally will swarm your table if you leave it unattended, the buffet by the way costs around 25$ per person and has culinary variety of your local Dennys. Secondly dont bother asking the bar to order from poolside all they will tell you is to sit down and a server will be around, the server by the way never came.

The wifi's another problem but really if your here to vacation you wont need it, but if your here for business your screwed.

The views are great and the actual staff members are nice and polite but I feel theres some issues with their upper management.

Room Tip: Ocean View dosent necessarily mean Ocean view, if you stood on the far right of our balcony you coul...

One of the greatest things about a Hawaiian vacation is the ability to enjoy the outdoors while eating first thing in the morning in the middle of Winter. We do have an aggressive remediation program for the small finches you discuss. We have placed high-pitch bird deterring devises to help keep the birds out of our open air breakfast restaurant. As for Denny’s, they do not take advantage crafting menus utilizing all our local products and produce. We highlight the culinary talents of our local executive chef brought in to highlight the bounty the Big Island while creating seasonal menus with great variety. Our buffet has unique offerings such as Punaluu sweetbread French toast, made to order omelets using locally sourced eggs, and fresh local island fruits and vegetables to name a few.
Our pool service runs throughout the day serving a menu focused on sliders, comfort food, and drinks. Maitais by the pool are the most popular and a great way to relax and take in the magnificent ocean views poolside.

Hotel looks great but staff lack any information and is hard to find. Pool area was great and that is is only place we found the staff any good. Restaurants are lacking and coffee shop shuts at 1. Trolley that they offer only runs EVERY 2 hours. Room good.

I'm a repeat customer of this hotel . I like it because the rooms are wonderful and spacious and the service is great. The restaurant needs a better menu that is not so pricey and better selection of foods . They used to have a bar menus that had smaller portions of food. I don't want a steak AND
Lobster all of the time.

Room Tip: Reserve well in advance and be precise about what type of room you want. They will try to change you...

Me and my wife are currently staying here for our honeymoon. We are in a single King size room. There is plenty of space for our 1 weeks worth of stuff. Self parking, wifi, shuttle, and a bunch of other things are included in the extra $30 per night "Resort" fee. Seems a little steep, but hey, it's Hawaii after all.

Location is great, because it is far enough away from the craziness happening on Alii Rd. in the north. But it's still easily accessible in 5-10 minutes by car or by "free" shuttle. We had a chance to escape town2 days in a row, and it's easy to just hop on hwy 11 and go North or South. You are away from major traffic areas, but still can reach wherever you need to.

The resort is pretty nice. They have a cool slide in the pool, and a little canal kinda thing that connects the 2 or more pools. I'm not sure how to count them, but the total swimmable area is probably something like 1.5-2 Olympic size pools. The Rays by the Bay restaurant is nice, we plan to go there either tonight or tomorrow night. There was a Luau happening in grassy area near the tennis courts the other night, and we could see most of the action happening from our balcony.

I would fully recommend staying here for your next visit to Kailua-Kona area. I like it, and would definitely stay here again.

Spent the last few nights of our honeymoon here and it was a wonderful way to end it. Ate at Rays on the Bay which was fascinating to relax and watch the manta rays out in the bay. Awesome pool with slide to relax and watch the sun set. The only tip would be hire a car as it is a fair distance between here and well anywhere else on the Island despite what their maps may say. Will definitely go back there again.

Room Tip: Ocean view or Ocean front are best style rooms

The sheraton in Kona is not as nice as the one in Maui, it seems that the rooms are a bit outdated. Having said that, the grounds are spectacular and the staff is top notch. The proximity to snorkeling trips at the bay was unbeatable...literally a 5 minute walk to the launch site. I recommend the Fair Winds Snorkeling, but even better was the "snorkel with dolphins trip" on Dolphin Discovery, at the same bay, a few launch sites over. My kids were in awe!!!

Do not bother with the breakfast buffet at the Sheraton; it is expensive and ordinary (the one at the Sheraton Maui is fantastic). However dinner at Rays on the Bay is a must. Great food at a reasonable price and spectacular views. We dined there twice. The Sheraton is only a short drive to some nice beaches and the town of Kona. It is well situated on the Island and if you plan to drive the island you do not want to be as far north as Waikoloa. All in all, despite the lack of "dazzle" in the rooms you can't beat the grounds, location and superb service of the Sheraton staff.

Room Tip: Upgrading to an Oceanview room puts you closer to the pool area (a bit noisier if you care). Partia...
