“Oceanside Relaxation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2014 via mobile

The last time we stayed in the Big Island we chose the Hilton Waikoloa. This time we were looking for an inexpensive place to stay and chose the Sea Village. I found it a relaxing place to stay, so much so that I chose to sleep on the couch to take full advantage of the sounds of waves crashing on the rocks outside our third floor room. We made certain we were back for sunset each night. While more upscale accommodations are fine, those on a budget may wish to consider Sea Village and put the difference in price into sightseeing

We stayed here while in kona for our honeymoon. We had a 3rd floor Oceanside condo and it was perfect. Instead of using the headroom which was very nice we used the fold out couch in the living room and left the deck door open with the screen door closed and slept listening to the waves crash. One morning we even saw a pod of dolphins swimming not 200 ft from our deck! Rooms were very clean with lots of amenities and the place has a great pool that's secure and private for guests! As well as a beautiful courtyard with barbecues for use! We would definetly stay here again

The condo we stayed in I rented from the VRBO site. We are on the 3rd floor, have a great view of ocean and sunset. The sound of the waves are so relaxing and can hear it in the bedroom. The interior design is perfect, couch is comfortable, & the bed is even better. This place has a pool and spa (may seem crazy in Hawaii but much needed). I only gave this place a 4 only because the property has a lot of rules. The condo we stayed in was immaculate clean! even the ceiling fans didn't have a speck of dust on them!

Very nice one bedroom with a great balcony overlooking the harbor. Spinning porpoises , cruise ships, paddle boarders and sunsets were the show out front. Nice pool next to the water is a plus. You can walk to downtown from there.

Right next to the ocean, so close waves crashing at night put you to sleep. Awesome views, amazing condos 1 BR & @ BR, would come back over and over if I could. 3 floors, best views from 3rd level condos but no elevator just stairs make it a little challenging for elderly bringing home groceries. But view amazing, weather always perfect, condos kept up to top notch condition....... Husband and I love this spot. Aloha!

Room Tip: Buiding 2 & 3 are quieter. Building 1 and 4 more noise.

2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2014

We recently returned from a stay and we will NEVER return!! We arrived on a Saturday afternoon, locked the screen door as we were unpacking (a habit from growing up in Phila. PA) I went to retrieve an item from the car approx. 1 hour later and we could not get out of the unit the handle on the door was broken. Maintenance was prompt in fixing this. Sat. evening the temp in the frig started to rise and by Sunday morning the temp was over 50 degrees. The office has very limited hours and there are charges for maintenance after hours. Maintenace was slow in rectifying the refrigerator problem on Sunday, complaining that he had no help to bring a refrig to the second floor. He placed a thermometer in the refrigerator to check the temp even though the ice in the freezer was melting and making a mess in the freezer. By the time the frig was replaced the temp in it was up to near 60 degrees. The replacement refrigerator had dead bugs in it (photo attached). The table lamp was broken when we arrived, the shade was crooked and should have been fixed by housekeeping when the unit was cleaned, assuming they actually entered the unit. I ran the dishwasher Sunday night and Monday morning there was rusty water in the bottom of it. Maintenance was not happy to be hearing from us for the 6th time in less then 36 hours.
As other reviewers have noted the condo unit was FILTHY dirty!!! There was a stain down the wall and surbase when we arrived, an inch of dust on the ceiling fans and in the corners on the floors. Although our sheets did appear to be clean. The unit was crawling with roaches and ants!

The office staff appeared to be put out and bothered when you went into the office. When we made the second complaint about the bugs the response was "isn't there a can of bug spray under the kitchen sink?" There was but the bottom of the can was rusted and white sticky goo was leaking from the can. Again housekeeping should have caught that. The kitchen sponge had been used previously. Our bedroom was close to the main road and noisy.
The good points...it is located close to town, the gardens are well maintained. The pool the first three days was clean after that the water appeared cloudy. There is also a gorgeous view and it is a great place to watch sunsets being right on the water.

They are in the process of updating the units however even an updated unit was dirty and bug infested. Stay here at your own risk!!

Room Tip: Don't stay here!!!

4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2014

We stayed on the 3rd floor of building two in April. We loved hearing the birds and watching the ocean sunsets. I would imagine that most rooms in the property had an ocean view, which is lovely. The grounds are very well kept, and the condo was good with the following exceptions. Upon arrival, the bathroom and floors had hair all over them, which was cleaned the next day. There was a light out which was never replaced, and the refrigerator was rusting. There is no a/c, which is troublesome when it is hot. I was most disturbed that there were no deadbolts on the doors, and never felt our valuables were secure. Thus, we kept them with us at all times. The staff is available limited hours, so check-in was a pain. Still, it was convenient and comfortable.
