“Beautiful location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2013

We recently stayed in Bldg 1 on the 3rd floor & had a beautiful view of the Kona Coastline.
The ocean can get really loud at hightide but we enjoyed the view. The biggest negative to this resort is that there is no air conditioning. It would allow you to close the bedroom windows at night. Nothing worse than hearing the couple next door doing their bedroom gymnastics. They sprayed for bugs while we were there but we noticed there were dead roaches the day we arrived, so someone needs to go back & pick up the results of the spraying. Housekeeping seems to miss them. We had plumbing issues while we were there so I wouldn't recommend using the garbage disposal. The T drain design attached to the neighbor's unit created a major backup. Once reported, maintenance did clean it out right away & then alert us to the poor design & chronic problem in the units.

Room Tip: Bldg 1 had it's patio on the ocean side & so there was less complex noise.

Stayed here Dec 15 to 22 in unit 2203. Had a full ocean view from the spacious lanai; the sunsets were stunning. No air conditioning wasn't an issue as we could catch a big breeze from the front door thru to the lanai. The unit was basically comfortable and although the appliances and furnishings were dated, it was clean. This is a family-friendly resort and the pool area was very noisy during daytime. Like much of the island, there is no beach here so the pool was popular with the kiddies. It was quiet after sunset though, except for the traffic on Alii Rd. This is a very busy roadway and can get very congested. It's also the only walkway you have if you want to explore by foot but has no sidewalks...not pleasant. So although unit 2203 had the most fabulous of views, the bedroom was subject to all that traffic noise. There are quieter units so would try to find one off Alii drive next time.

We're staying at Sea Village even as I write this I have been a bit dissappointed with our stay here. The room is nice and I have no complaints about the furnishings. My complaint is about the noise. If you come here expecting a quiet, relaxing vacation, you'll be disappointed. I have nothing against little children, we have lots of grandchildren and I love them dearly. I just was not expecting to listen to the thump, thump, thump of little feet coming from adjacent units on this vacation. I was hoping to be able to walk from my room and sit on the beach and enjoy the sounds and smells of the ocean while I read a book. There is no beach access here. There are shops and restaurants a short walk away. But that walk is along a busy road and the noise from that road is easily heard in our room. If what you're looking for is easy access to shops and restaurants then you will enjoy your stay here. But for me, this place is like a smaller version of Waikiki and that madhouse drove me nuts. I won't be back.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on an upper floor. The breeze through the windows is wonderful and keeps the unit co...

my wife and I stayed here Nov 11th through the 17th. For part of that time her sister and brother in law were with us, so we had a two bedroom suite. We were in Building 2 room 2301. All buildings have 3 floors, no elevators. Room was clean and tidy but very dated. No a/c, so we kept the fans going 24/7 and windows open as well. I can see were no a/c would be an issue during the summer. We were rarely in the place during the day, so no a/c was not an issue. The pool area is ok, but for the number of people staying here the pool itself is small. Hot tub is dated and small and the water wasn't much warmer than the pool at times. Didn't use the bbq area but it looked nice and the grounds are pleasing. We had a pretty good view of the ocean from our lanai. The room had a washer and dryer, to go along with the usual stove, microwave and fridge. Within walking distance to town. Did not notice any noise problem except morning traffic on Alii Drive. All in all, not the best place we've seen but not the worst. Location and grounds are excellent. We would stay here again.

If not for the amazing view, this would have rated a 1. The view was the saving grace for this outdated property. Pictures are included. The unit size was good for a 1-bedroom but furniture and fixtures are quite outdated.

The bedroom is located at the back of the unit (not facing water) so we decided to sleep in the murphy bed, located in the living room. While a full size bed, the mattress was disgusting. It was extensively stained and while I couldn't see them, I inherited a bumpy rash on my skin, making me believe it is bed bugs (no proof, just my assumption based on reviews of other hotels with the problem). In addition, while there are ceiling fans, there is no AC - so be prepared.

The deck was located with a magnificent view of the bay and outer ocean. From the deck, watching the sunset was amazing! Our neighbors above (we were on floor 2 out of 3) us were very loud - what sounded like stomping from about 7 am - 10 pm...quite annoying. Since they are not all VI (vacation internationale) properties, it is difficult for anyone to ask them to be quieter.

There is no beach at the property as it is quite rocky so the pool area was used a lot - it was a good size pool, with a hot tub and plenty of chairs.

The resort is located within walking distance to town, where there are plenty of good restaurants, as there is no dining spot located on the property, except for a small cafe serving a limited breakfast and lunch menu. However, it was very good and the staff was very nice.

If VI would update the condo furnishings and replace the mattresses, this would have rated a 5 as the view really does help overlook the bumpy rash!

Room Tip: They say they won't guarantee a room or building but Building 1 and 4 have amazing views of the...

My wife and I stayed in Sea Village 3210 for a 10 night stay.

The view was just as pictured; not more than 20 yards from the ocean. We watched the sunset every night and enjoyed breakfast on the Lanai.

The condo had everything we needed, and then some. As mentioned in other reviews, just 20 minutes walk from Kona shops and restaurants. The furniture was well loved over time, but who cares? We got so much more for our money here than we had got in many other island stays.

The lack of air conditioning was also mentioned in other reviews; we found that not to be a problem at all. The bedroom had a ceiling an box fan that made in comfortable at night,
and there was always a refreshing ocean breeze during the day.

The condo was impeccably clean. Kona coast vacations let us cehck in early the day we arrived, which was greatly appreciated. There was a tsunami warning during our stay; we heard about it and moved to higher ground for a couple of hours, no big deal. I was impressed though, when we returned and Kona Coast Vacations had called the condo phone and even our home land line, to make sure we were aware of the danger.

The quiet hours at the complex were appreciated. It could sometimes be a bit noisy from the common pool area, but not obnoxiously so.

The pool, barbeques, hot tub, and grounds were also impressively maintained. We have stayed on every islan in Hawaii, and this was by far our best experience.

The owners might think about updating the bed in the master bedroom, but that is my only niggling criticism. Other than that, Kona Coast Vacations and the owner of this property
should be proud of what a great holiday they offer here.

Room Tip: Room 3210 has an amazing view, but there are many others in this complex that also would also lovely...

This resort could be a great place IF it had a/c. The SV is right on the coast just south of the town. In November, the lack of trade winds made it hot and muggy. Furnishing where good but needed updating. An average place.
