Just returned stateside from our Hawaiian vacation. We spent five days and four nights at the Holua Resort. It was truly a quiet resort tucked at the end of the road. The Hilton was next door and we could hear their luau on two different nights but that was about as noisy as it got. My 10 yr son really enjoyed having his "own pool", actually, there is a smaller pool and spa about every two sections for the vacationers to enjoy. We had a two bedroom for myself, my son and my Aunt and Uncle. There was plenty of room for all of us. The bedrooms were at ground level and we walked upstairs to the living/dining/kitchen area. I loved the fabulous green and blue island flair interiors. Spent mornings on the lani that overlooked the golf course and the edge of the ocean. Note that this resort is not "on" the ocean but you can see it about a couple of hundered feet away. The Keauhou Shopping Center is a couple of miles back up the coast with a longs drug, a KTA (groceries), a Subway, a pizza place, a restaruant/bar a movie theater among many others. On Friday's the shopping center has free entertainment and cultural demonstrations. We purchased meat to grill on one of many grills that the resort offers near the pools. We ate several meals in the fully stocked kitchen. We also ate out at the Big Island grill in Kona and Island Breeze Luau. I wish I had known that we would have a washer and dryer in our villa, I wouldn't have packed as much. One thing to note is that you park in a parking garage and walk the "trails" to your villa. On the one hand it helps keep the resort really quiet on the other hand it mignt not be for you if you have difficulties walking.
Overall we really enjoyed our stay at the Houla Resort. We will go back and stay again in the next few years. I would highly recommend this resort.
