“Nice and quiet, friendly staff.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2012

Stayed for a week at Kona Coast Resort in September. Upon check-in, found the staff very friendly and helpful and check-in only took a few moments. We found the room to be clean, the bed very comfortable and not a bad view! We actually used this more as a base of operations, spending most of our time exploring the island of Kona. However, we did have a chance to use the pool, hot tub and bbq's and found them all to be well kept, clean and functional. We chose for no housekeeping though the week and did our own laundry in the washer and dryer in the room. The kitchen was well appointed and the outside lannai was great. Check-out went quickly and again the staff were friendly. Great place to stay!

Room Tip: Ask for an ocean view room if one is available on the second floor.

We once again spent a week here at the Kona Coast Resort. We enjoy the huge rooms and full kitchen plus two baths is nice as well. Wish we would have had a ocean view like we had last year but the golf course view and tropical grounds are a very nice consolation!
The unit was clean although the appliances are old they are clean and work well, we used the stacker washer and dryer a few times it's nice to have to get that ocean beach smell out of your clothes plus being dry when you have to pack up and leave. This is a great home base for us then we go explore all the different beaches, sights and even some of the amazing resorts on the Island. The pools are well kept and the staff is working all the time to keep the place up and clean. The shopping center up the hill from the resort has a grocery store and decent pizza place as well as a Subway shop and Longs drug store.

Very nice spacious condo. We had a 1 bedroom and my 20-yr old son took the pull out - he was pleased with it. Kitchen was good - ate half our meals in, half out - several options for that. The deck/Lanai was huge - not a two step "deck" that is crowded with more than one person and a deck chair. Had room for table, several chairs, walking room. Be aware that if you are a diver and you have wet stuff to air dry, do not hang them on the deck rails for all to see - you will receive a polite but firm phone call from the front desk. Have stayed in phase I and phase II - I like the older (but super well maintained !!!!) phase just for the large shaded deck. I will return to either phase. Good pools, activities are available. Store nearby, restaurants nearby. Keahou beach park nearby. No beach front property here but not an issue since most guests have rental cars. On the south end of Kailua-Kona so a car is handy! Love the area - very quiet, very green.

Room Tip: Building 6 has some long walks into the upper rooms but kind of fun - definitely quiet.

The resort is extremely nice. Great facilities. Pool is a little to close to the restaurant and bar area. Very off putting trying to eat with water being splashed everywhere!! Restaurant food is poor. Xpensive and of poor quality. We had fish and chips one night and the fish tasted dreadful, as though it was frozen and had been reheated, and not fresh.

Condo room was huge and spacious. Our room was a little close to the main road which was annoying when trying to sleep at night.

Be aware that the resort is a little out of the way from the tourist areas. You will need a car to get around.

Resort has late check in (4pm) and early check out times (10am) which is something to be aware of. We booked an additional night because our flight didn't leave until 5:30pm. If we had not have booked the extra night, we would have had to have left our gear in our hire car from 10am. Not ideal at all in 85+ temps!

Room Tip: Request room away from road

The only thing that would it better would be located on the beach front. The furnishing were beautiful. WE stayed in a one bedroom unit... it was very spacious. We would return again. The pools were very nice and the Jacuzzi spacious.

This was an excellent base for exploring the kona coast. I got this resort on special through hotwire- great deal. Spacious condo, fully equipped kitchen, and they provide beach towels. Close to the grocery store which is open till 10 pm.
No beach but with a car rental this is not a problem.
Would definately stay here again.

This was a very roomy condo that exceeded are expectations. We had 5 in are family and we felt very comfortable. This was a 3 bedroom 3 full bathroom condo. The master bedroom and bath were very large with a deck for seating. The second bedroom was also good sized and the smaller bedroom had twin beds. Free internet, large dining table, front room with L shaped couch, kitchen with washer and dryer. Outside patio with two tables for eating. Walking distance to stores and beach.Very quite unit that is only attached to one side. Condo was very clean and well mantained. You can rent equiptment and also reserve any extra activities on site. They had a small gym, shuffle board, beach vollyball, basketball hoop, main pool with spa and restaurant, quite pool next accross the street from condo, grill outside unit. This was privitely rented so we did not have room service.
