My husband and I did the Twilight Tour with Mathew and it far exceeded our expectations!!! Every tour guide has a slant and Mathew's was ecological which for me was fascinating!! I believe we need to be good to our Mother (Earth) she's the only one we've got, so it was great to hear how everything effects each other. By learning about Hawaii I learned more about my own state's environment.
The tour was fabulous, of course crowning glory was the glow after dark of the lava at the caldera, but it all was fabulous. We hiked a lava field, walked in a lava tube, saw a waterfall, ate dinner on a lava field at the beach, witnessed "magic" at the steam vents (Mathew can show you what I'm talking about, I even tried to google it and couldn't find it), saw what's left of a vulcanologist's suit that saved his legs, and much much more!!!
Recommendations: wear sturdy shoes or hiking boots, bring a wind breaker/light rain jacket, don't be concerned with looking good (be comfortable) the wind and weather changes a lot, and go to the bathroom every chance you have it might be a while before you see another.
Fabulous tour (and food), I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!!!
