“The Aloha Spirit Lives at The Royal Kona Resort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

We have been coming to Kona for 28 years and we Love The Ohana (family) feeling at the Royal Kona Resort. We always start at the Royal Kona Resort, it totally relaxes us.
The grounds are beautiful, you can relax at the Pool - Tide pool - or the Bar, And the views are absolutely amazing. Music on the grounds most night and a Luau you can listen to and enjoy.
We are walking distances to Town and all it offers.
The Best Part about the Royal Kona Resort is the Aloha Spirit we receive when we stay, The Staff is great, A Special Mahalo to Linda, Ann who welcome us as Ohana every time we stay, at the check in and all the staff, Katherine on the phones,
All the people and crew at the Resort. Everybody has a genuine Aloha Spirit, it really is wonderful.
If your there just try saying Aloha to the Staff and Crew and feel the Aloha Spirit for yourself.
We Highly Recommend The Royal Kona Resort.

Room Tip: Pay a little more for a ocean view, if you can, or you can see the most amazing ocean view from many...

Sure the Royal Kona has been around a while - and that is part of its wonderful, unique charm. I have stayed here many times, and the last time was with my fiance. The open-air reception is quite lovely and welcoming, and the open-air bar, where they give you a free Mai Tai on check in, is right on the water and has a great view of the bay.

They had a great deal on a hotel/car package through Dollar that we booked without hassle. When we got to our room (which overlooked the RK's private beach) we were happy, except that the air conditioning rattled. They had guys come immediately to fix it while we went out for dinner, and when we came back the slight noise still woke me up. I trundled down to the lobby at 4 am and explained the predicament to the wonderful receptionist. She talked with her manager, and before we knew it, they had upgraded us to a wonderful room facing the ocean (the other view was great too, but nothing beats this).

In sum, they made our trip wonderful. I love this place and will always stay here when we come to Kona. It's affordable, elegant, and incredibly friendly. Mahalo, Royal Kona!

Aloha TA family! Great to see another satisfied return guest had a great stay. Sometimes things happen, but when you approach them with a positive attitude good things happen. We're glad to know we're the go to hotel for many of our return guests, that's the way it's suppose to be. Glad they enjoyed and we'll see them again soon!

This older hotel is in an ideal location overlooking the ocean and bay near the center of town. The rooms have spacious covered verandas, many with views of the ocean and bay. The lobbies have gardens with blooming flowers. The rooms are not luxurious but are comfortable and clean with large sliding doors to the veranda that can be left open in the evening for the breeze. We loved having breakfast on the terrace overlooking the waves crashing on the rocks. In addition to the pool near the ocean, there is a lagoon and small beach for swimming. The lobby is really classy. The staff was very accomodating and gave us a corner room with a fantastic view of the ocean and bay! This hotel has class and the vaue cannot be beat.

Room Tip: Get a room with an ocean view or a corner room.

Aloha TA family, I'm happy to know our guests from MI had such great things to share about their stay. I like to say, "what we lack in marble and brass, we make up for with style and class" it's true we're not the newest kid on the block, but we strive to provide clean, well maintained rooms and spotless grounds for our guests to enjoy. Hope they were able to view the spinner dolphins in the bay while they dined with us! Mahalo!

While the hotel could use some modernising the room facilities were nice enough and worked. The shower was a decent size and had good water pressure, in a twin share room we both had a decent sized bed that was quite comfortable. Slight negative is the potential privacy issue if you are on the balcony and look towards the neighbouring room you can see straight in. Don's Mai Tai Bar is a must visit while you're there. Sadly the staff at Check-in were rude, disorganised and didn't seem to know how to do their job correctly, this was what tarnished our stay at the Royal Kona Resort

Aloha Ta family, I'm pleased to know these guests had nothing but great reviews about the rooms, location, and out food and beverage, I am however disappointed that they had an unfavorable view of the front desk staff. I've sent a personal message to gather more info, so we can sort out and coach those involved. Our main goal is happy customers, and we'll get to the bottom of this. mahalo!

We stay here for three nights and it was ok. The room was old and lacked sole. We asked for a ocean view room and got it. The lobby is good. The pools were good. Like we said the room was a big let down. Our room was in the Bay Tower.
Out dated furniture, the fridge stunk, mould and paint cracking were just a few of the problems.
Still the hotel was good and in a great location.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the Ali'i Tower, its better.

Aloha TA family, glad to know they liked the grounds, pool and views, sorry to know the room product was a let down. We strive to ensure we provide clean well maintained rooms, and this was disappointing to hear. I've send a personal message to determine which room, so we can rectify.

We would actually give this resort a 4.5! From check in to check out we received great service and hospitality. Our only complaint is the WiFi. Extremely slow and inconstant, plus it is $10.00 a day extra.! Thankfully for us, we don't spend much time surfing, but if this is a priority then you should stay elsewhere. The Hotel is dated but it is clean. The location is so good, and even though it's in town the resort was quiet. We enjoyed several sunsets at Don's happy hour. The food and service were excellent! Hands down, The best prime rib I've ever eaten! We will be sure to recommend this resort to all of our friends and family!

Room Tip: We had an ocean front room beside the lagoon. Much quieter than the main building!

Aloha Ta family, I'll take a 4.5 any day! Glad these guest found our resort to be perfect for their needs. the wifi we have was installed in 2009, and at the time was state of the art, we'll we know how fast technology changes and it's time for an upgrade. Glad they enjoyed the great food, beverage and sunsets at Don's Mai Tai bar, we'll look forward to welcoming them back again next year, or sooner, it's getting cold in Canada! Mahalo!

We reserved this hotel at the last minute when an alternative was not up to par. While this is a large hotel, it has a number of great options that made it a better choice for us. Right on a rocky beach, beach view rooms can be a real place of refuge at night with the sound of waves. The room had two queen sized beds in it and if the bathroom was small, the water pressure was good. Small balcony. Internet is free only in the bar and restaurants, which is not great.

The location is good. Just steps from all the restaurants, yet quiet because it is not downtown.

We did not buy the $17 breakfasts but went, instead, down the street, and had wonderful breakfast buffets elsewhere.

Room Tip: Ask for an upgrade to an ocean view. It is worth it to have a private view of the sunset and to hea...

Aloha TA family, it's great to know they found us to be a great alternative to their initial choice in hotels. With our great location, clean well maintained rooms, and terrific staff, they made the right choice. Glad they enjoyed their stay with us and in Kona, we hope to see them again on their return.
