“Good value for price”

Kona Seaside Hotel

Feb 26, 2008

We stayed only one night after a 22 hours intercontinental flight before boarding the Kona Aggressor. We had asked for a quiet room and we got one upstairs at the tower which was really quiet and clean, too. Nothing fancy but very much o.k .for the price. Not a place I would spend 3 weeks vacation, but close to the jetty and most restaurants.

“Kona Seaside Resort Hotel”

Great location - directly across from pier & small beach where all water excursions start. Right next to Quinns restaurant - best food and prices and we tired almost all others. Great price $80 night. Motel six type quality. with pool. This is where the locals stay.

“Price is right, but rooms are wrong.....”

Sure the price is great for this island hotel, but truly you get what you pay for.... The facility is old and the "air conditioning" comes from old noisy window units. The facility is comprised of several old buildings that they have "fenced in" together. The facility tends to attract young folks on a budget who enjoy keeping very late (and very noisy) hours. Getting a good nights rest was near impossible. The mattresses have seen a lot of use and are uncomfortable. The mold growth in the shower and overall musty smell take some getting used to as well.

And don't assume that because you are spending money with them that they will give you preferential parking treatment. You have to pay an additional $6/day to park and that is only if you get there early enough in the day. If you don't make the cut, you get to park in public lot that is a block away accessible through a long very dark alley. They keep all the gates to access the property locked with looped chains so have a good emergency evacuation plan of your own. After two nights we gave up, paid more at another facility and moved out. Moving was worth every penny. We would never go back to this hotel.

“Affordable, but dumpy”

Kona Seaside Hotel

My husband and I stayed here for one night in January 2008. Our flight arrived in the evening, so this seemed like the perfect hotel selection for a quick night in Kona before heading to the volcano the following morning. The room was small and dirty. There was mold on the ceiling and hair in the bathroom sink. The location was close to a lot of shops and restaurants. The room was extremely loud at night, as the hotel is located on a busy street. If you can sleep through anything, I would recommend this hotel. Otherwise I would encourage you to keep looking.

Stayed here because it was the cheapest place in Kona at $88 a night. For what it is, a no nonsense place to stay, it worked out well. It was clean, secure, the AC worked well, there was a fridge. All in all it was ok. And had a great location right above Ali drive.
