“This is where we locals eat!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2014

We live in Kailua-Kona and try to have breakfast at Bongo Ben's every Saturday or Sunday morning. The view is spectacular, atmosphere is laid back, prices are excellent, and the food is great any time of the day. The $3 Bloody Mary's make breakfast perfect. Staff is very friendly and attentive.

“Fantastic food and staff!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2014

We spent March 4-26, 2014 in Kailua-Kona. We ate at Bongo Ben's about 12 times during our stay.
The first day we had breakfast while looking out at the ocean and saw spinner dolphins!
The omelettes were very tasty and came with a half papaya and coffee,.
We ate dinner there often and really enjoyed the fresh Mahi.
The staff are friendly and we came to know a few quite well due to our frequent visits, in fact they would greet us by name and ask if we wanted the usual.
Casey, Naia and Mari were excellent bartenders and made us many fancy and inventive drinks.
The Mai Tai's are better than Don the Beachcombers, and cost less than Don's happy hour.
We also tried Fish Hopper and found the food at Bongo Ben's to be better and a lot more for a lot less $$$.
There is also great live music on the weekends.
We would highly recommend Bongo Ben's to anyone.

“food poisoning?”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2014

Went to Bongo's on our last night in Kona. My seafood scampi was OK and the service good . However my wife had the pulled pork fajita. That night she got sick and threw everything up Sunday morning. She is (3 days later) still recovering. Sunday was our long trip back to Colorado which included killing 9 hours without a hotel room until our flight left at 9PM. As far as we are concerned she had food poisoning at Bongo's and made our last day in Kona, already stressful, much worse. For that reason we will never eat there again.

“Eggs Benedict anyone!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2014

Yum, one of my favorite breakfast spots. Incredible bloody Mary's or mimosas. THEY HAVE GRITS- my favorite breakfast side. I have to go at least three times a trip. The eggs Benedict is very good. We saw spinner dolphins in the ocean while eating our breakfast which was quite a treat.
