“Great Stay!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 days ago NEW

We had a multi-room / multi-night stay. This became a Roadway Inn about two months ago. It is the best Roadway Inn I've stayed at. Staff was friendly and informative. Large, clean rooms. They just finished renovating the former breakfast room into a bistro and will have breakfast available soon. Currently, they send you to an enjoining property for breakfast. Internet was slow.

SUGGESTIONS FOR IMPROVEMENT: Consider reviewing internet provider support and King mattress in room #136 needs to be replaced.

Friendly staff. Room was big, well-furnished and very clean. The entrance door was automatic and the pool was well separated from the lobby. There was no chlorine smell in the lobby. Good elevator to the second floor.

I booked this hotel because I'd previously stayed there and had a good experience but standards have slipped. The place has been taken over by Rodeway and already corners are being cut! The property has a nice big breakfast room but breakfasts are no longer served there guests must walk across the car park to the adjacent motel for breakfast in a small room with only four tables for hundreds of guests. The quality of the breakfast is poor and there is nowhere to sit, I carried my breakfast back to the hotel and ate in the old breakfast room alone! The pool and hot tub were dirty and the access gate broken, only one ice machine was working so guests on the top floor had to take the elevator down to get ice. We stayed 3 nights but our room was only serviced once during our stay. The rooms are big and clean, old style bathrooms but also clean. On our first night we were uncomfortable in our beds due to the mattress protectors, on the following nights we took the mattress protectors off and had a much better sleep. For the price the place is okay just not as good as it used to be.

Room Tip: Top floor rooms are better for less noise, some rooms look out onto the pool area.

This hotel is a bit confusing as it seems it has gone through some name and/or configuration changes. There is an adjoining economy type hotel, but the Hotel 29 Palms staff seems to handle all their calls as well. We were here for three nights while visiting Joshua Tree National Park, and this hotel is very convenient to all the north side entrances to the park and just a short drive to a good selection of Twentynine Palms restaurants. The best grocery store in town is about 1/2 block to the west. Our room was clean and very well kept up and had a lot of space, a fridge and a microwave, and we slept very well. The room rate was great compared to some other options in town and there was always ample parking a short distance from the entrance. The biggest issue we had was with the subpar breakfast, which was in the aforementioned adjoining hotel. The breakfast area was a bit small, and the number of options was easily exhausted by the end of our three night stay. Apparently the hard boiled eggs are only offered on weekends as well, as they disappeared for our Monday and Tuesday breakfasts after being available on Sunday. The only other problem was that the ice machine on the second floor was out of order our entire stay, which I think is unreasonable. Everyone we talked to at the front desk was extremely helpful and courteous.

Good value, very clean (except for the random sock under the bed) and nice upgrade from the local motels. Nice pool and spa area. Should be better when breakfast area is remodeled for morning paper and coffee

On vacation from UK, we stayed three nights visiting Joshua Tree National Park. Great clean hotel with good continental breakfast taken in lobby area of Rodeway Inn adjacent. No problem with that at all. As Brits, though, we like our morning cup of tea and by the afternoon of the second day housekeeping had not replenished the tea bags or milk. A request to reception brought instant assistance with many tea bags and lots of milk! Great service and the receptionist checked we were ok every time we passed! Really helpful too for recommending good eating places - try American Classic, Mexican and Chinese - all good.

Room Tip: Great free wifi, very comfy bed, good facilities (the pool looked great although we were too busy t...

While staying at this hotel my wife and I decided to buy some food and use the grill provided by the hotel. When I went to light the grill it malfunctioned and engulfed my head in flames. I only sustained light burns on my eye lids and lots of singed hair. Concerned for the safety of the other guests, my wife told the receptionist what happened thinking they might put up a sign or block off the area. Instead she blew us off. The next morning I went out there and still there was no sign or anything to keep others from using the grill.

My wife then contacted the owner and was told "I don't go into your home and use your grill without asking so you shouldn't have used mine ." I have been to this hotel many times before and have always been able to use the grill. After all, why have a grill if no one is allowed to use it. My wife and I are reasonable people and were not seeking a handout or money back. We were concerned for the safety of other people. I can now see that this does not concern the owner of this establishment so I will never stay here again.
