“We Loved It at The Postwirt”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2011

If you are thinking of booking this hotel - go ahead - you will not be disappointed.

The hotel is in a great central location, very handy for everything. Tourist Info next door, Bank with ATM across the street, main bus stop just around the corner, small SPAR a minute away. Staff pleasant and friendly. The food was superb with lots to choose from, I cannot praise it highly enough and was served in a lovely dining room. The salad bar alone would have satisfied me never mind the whole menu. Drinks were fairly priced - signed for in the dining room and paid at the end of your holiday. Water was freely available with dinner. All facilities were of a very high standard. The rooms were spacious with lots of storage and everything was spotlessly clean. Beautiful outdoor pool with nice loungers for relaxing in the garden. Credit cards were accepted.

I would imagine that it could be quite noisy in the ski season when the nightclub a few doors along is open but as it was closed in the summer it was not an issue.

We were really happy with our choice of hotel and would definately recommend the Postwirt.

Just back from an excellent week in the Postwirt. The staff were so helpful, and the food was delicious, with plenty of options to choose from the menu. Had a lovely room with balcony and enjoyed relaxing in the garden and a swim in the lovely heated pool after a good days walking. I would recomend this hotel to anyone.

After reading a 'bad' review I wondered what I would think. All members of staff were so friendly and helpful, nothing too much trouble. The room was spacious, very clean and with wonderful views from the dual aspect balcony. The food was superb (rather too much!) but my highlight was the outdoor heated swimming pool which was the cleanest pool I have ever been in. After years of staying in Austrian hotels, this was DEFINITELY the best!!!! Thank you to all the staff.

Just back from a week at the Postwirt. Food excellent, varied and plentiful. Staff attentive and friendly. Room ensuite with balcony - views to the mountains. Hotel has lovely breakfast dining room with separate restaurant for evening meal. Soll is a great base for walking, cycling and sightseeing.
Would recommend the Postwirt without any qualms whatsoever.

My Wife and I stayed at Hotel Postwirt 4th.June 2011 which is about the start of the summer season in SOLL. This was our eleventh year in SOLL ,our third stay at the Postwirt. There has been a number of changes at the Postwirt since 2009. We have seen a decline in standards to what we once considered '' The best hotel in town''.
The hotels four star plus status has been gained over the years prior to 2009 We feel that if it was to be re-assesed today it would at best achieve a very ordainary three star rating. One example from the menu, Omlet with either Mushrooms or Ham (you cant have both ) served with what must be pre-packed frozen fries , to us does not now match the legend ''The Postwirt has a high reputation for its cusine ''. Our biggest dissapointment was that the hotel has re-taken control of the restaurant next door. So now hotel guests have to take their evening meal there and not in the original private restaurant . On hot evenings in the new restaurant we were plagued with flies which were feeding from the salad buffet , bread and even inside the cheese board cover.
Worst of all they were landing on our plates as we were eating. The hotel did not appear to be actively tackling the problem.
A word of warning for other Asma sufferers is that the hotel accepts pets which is not made known in the brochures and also smoking is still allowed in the hotel bar.
More generally we found the bedrooms , while very clean , were tired looking and the hotel bar with its stuffed animals looks outdated.
On the possitive side breakfast was excellent and is taken in the hotels original private restaurant for hotel guests. It is fresh, clean and cool , no flies., and the views across the swimming pool to the farm and meadows are picture postcard and a real pleasure to sit there for breakfast. It is unexplainable why this beautifull restaurant is abandoned at evening meal time for the restaurant next door.
Bad move Hotel Postwirt. That was our last stay.

Room Tip: A high room at the front of the building is best in summer.

Hard to add to what has been said already. It is a great hotel with fantastic staff and very good food. Prices not at all bad either eg €5 for half litre carafe of wine and about €3.50 for a large beer(0.4l). The bar house red is better than the dining room house red. This is good because Soll is VERY quiet in the summer and smaller than I remember it from a winter holiday. Bar Salvenstadtl in the town has free wifi which the hotel staff told us about.
Bedrooms a good size and nice balcony.
The only thing I would add to improve it is tea/coffee facilities in the rooms and better priced internet(€1/10mins in their "kiosk" or €15 each day wifi, though I never did see evidence of a wifi signal when I looked).
All in all you will be hard pushed to find a better hotel, nothing was too much trouble for them.

Room Tip: ask for a front facing room with balcony.

A comfortable hotel with great quality food which surpassed my expectations. The staff were very friendly too. Beds were very comfortable although it was a bit noisy outside on occasion. Check that your window is shut as staff leave them open to air the room.

The hotel has a fantastic heated outdoor pool which was lovely to relax in after a hard day's skiing. There's a free ski bus to the gondola station from just around the corner. The bar at the end of the street towards the ski station has a good atmosphere and live bands.
