Ate here in the evening on our summer visit. Took 30 minutes to receive a menu or even be acknowledged by a member of staff - only 1 taking orders a 2nd was just clearing tables. We ordered and waited, and waited, and waited! Eventually the 2nd waitress came to start taking off cruets etc, so I pointed out that we were still awaiting our food order. She seemed quite surprised and went to check with the other waiter - he looked at his order pad and ran inside - they had already closed the kitchen! He came out about 5 minutes later and said that he was sorry, our food would arrive. At this point we had waited 70 minutes. After a further 25 minutes we received our food - which I have to say was faultless in quality and cooking, and in other circumstances would have received sublime comments - however, by this time, it was after 10.30pm, pitch black and a storm was starting! We ate quickly and without really savouring or enjoying the food much and ended up having to run inside when the storm hit leaving our food half eaten. We asked for the bill - the waiter did ask several times if the food had been OK, and I replied yes, but..... [he added 'just too late perhaps'] he was right. No reduction was made to the bill, our drinks were not complimentary etc, which given the restaurants error would have softened the experience. It has marred our view of this eating establishment, which my Mum and Dad had frequented for the past 30 years in visiting the same town on their annual holidays. However, the food we received WAS extremely good.
