“Lovely honeymoon stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2013

We stayed at Skihotel Galzig for the first week of our honeymoon in Jan 2013. It's a lovely hotel with the best location in St Anton - located right next to the big Galzigbahn lift, only a couple of minutes walk to the shops and bars, and only a couple of minutes ski down from the KK and the Mooserwirt (if that's your sort of thing). The rooms are lovely and modern and impeccably clean. The staff are very welcoming and were nice enough to make us a cake and give us some Prosecco to celebrate our honeymoon.

The food is great - breakfast is lovely buffet (you could have champagne with your breakfast if you are so inclined) with an excellent selection of teas as well. And, in the afternoon there is either cakes and coffee or something savoury such as goulash.

Being in such an amazing ski area like the Arlberg in such a lovely hotel, we really couldn't fault a thing. Made for an amazing honeymoon!

We stayed just one night in summer as we crossed Tyrol on way out of Austria. We've skied in St Anton but first time there in summer. This place was amazing value - 90 euro for two!! The room was spacious, beautifully decorated, top notch bathroom, good storage, nice touches like auto lights in the hallway when you awake in the night for the loo! Huge balcony the whole length of the room with blankets for later evening. Great breakfast, sunny dining room and comfy lounge. Yes it's just B&B but for that money in summer you can't go wrong in my opinion. Prices more than double in winter as you'd expect but really nice spot if you like your decor that bit higher quality and want to treat yourself in winter.

We stayed here for one night in July en route to Italy from Denmark and loved seeing St Anton in the summer (we've only ever been in the ski season). The place was good value, great location and a very comfortable spacious room that was much more modern and luxurious than most places we've stayed before in the resort. As a couple, if we could afford it we would definitely come back here in the ski season (or summer again for that matter, looked like great walks). The location in town was excellent and with wonderful mountain views from our balcony. With the kids it being only B&B and not having a pool could be less of an appeal - being half board on a fixed price in the evenings in an expensive resort with kids does help you budget and relax. Overall we were very impressed and only wish we could have stayed longer.

Very comfortable hotel perfectly located at the foothills of St Anton. It is only a few steps from the valley station of the Galzig bahn cable car. We stayed at the top floor suite with hard wood-floored spacious balcony over looking beautiful views of the mountains and the town. Bright rooms with huge glass windows & decorated tastefully with modern amenities and vibrant colors. Good breakfast & friendly staff. I must say it is one of the best places to stay in St. Anton am Arlberg.

Despite appearances, this is a B&B hotel like loads of others in St Anton. It is quite chi-chi, by St Anton's standards, very comfortable and very well positioned. It looks as if it is a proper hotel, but it has the limited facilites of a B&B hotel.

The hotel is close to the Galzigbahn and very close to the ski schools, and well positioned for the flesh pots, without being in a particularly noisy spot.

The hotel has been recently built or extensively refurbished. The rooms are a good size, well furnished. Ours had a south facing balcony, overlooking the town and the hillside opposite. the bed was comfortable. Adequate space for clothing. Decent bathroom.

Facilities are limited, as I say. There is a smallish lounge, which looked comfortable, and that's about it. No bar, although I think that beers etc are avaialble in the lounge. I assume but don't know that there is a boot room. Underground parking with direct access to the hotel is available.

Breakfast is served in a pleasant, although noisy, room, and is very good; a definite cut above the average Austrian B&B. A wide selection of cereals, yogs, juices, breads, pastries, jams, teas (and coffee, of course), cold meats, cheeses and so on, even a bottle of fizz (too early in the day for me) all good quality stuff. Scrambled eggs (of a sort) and bacon as well.

The location and the up market fixtures and fittings and brekkie make this an expensive B&B; you can get effectively the same thing for half the price. It is very pleasant and convenient, though.

Room Tip: Go for one that faces the town; the ones facing th emountain won't have much of a view because o...

This was my first ski trip ever and I was so happy we made the perfect hotel choice. From the moment we walked in we felt right at home. Check in was so smooth and easy and immediately we entered the family like lounge/open sitting area with a cosy fire place and refreshments to help ourselves.

The room was so spacious and had a very nice layout. The breakfast was just what we needed every morning and then the sauna and steam room were just what we needed after skiing. The hotel is very well organized, highly efficient and has very nice interiors.

The best part about the hotel were the amazing staff Simona and Barbara, who were so helpful, friendly and gave us the best recommendations, advise and assistance to make our stay a smooth one. We can't thank them enough or say enough great things about them. They are really the backbone of the hotel.

In terms of location, we found it perfect with just a short walk from the main train station, right next to two main ski lifts (Galzig and Rendl), a short walk to the pedestrian street and right next to wellness centre.

Finally, we also had the pleasure of meeting the hotel owner who was so hospitable and kind - a great man.

We will definitely stay at Skihotel galzig everytime we r in st Anton.

We stayed at the Skihotel Galzig for a one week ski vacation in March 2013 and cannot recommend it more highly. The accommodations are a perfect blend of modern amenities with plenty of friendly B&B hospitality. We stayed in Room 205 and loved it because it was perfectly located, with a balcony overlooking the Galzig ski lift. Probably room 305 has the same set up. The room has free wifi, hair dryer, a flat screen TV and a rubber ducky which you would sometimes find whimsically swimming in the sink upon your return from skiing. One day the staff brought us complimentary beers in the room. The only things we would improve upon in the room were the beds (two twin beds pushed together to make a queen size bed--but the linens, pillows & duvets were very comfy) and the shower (it's a mounted wand, not a traditional shower head).

On the ground floor is a cozy lounge room with sofas, a large table (where we played cards some nights with a bottle of wine), and a wood burning fireplace. There was always a tray of coffee, tea, water, cookies and cake set out for guests to help themselves. The friendly staff was always a discrete distance away, and one night while we were playing cards, they brought us a bowl of salty snacks. Breakfast was included in the rate and consisted of a really delicious spread of eggs, sausage, bacon, breads, cakes, croissants, cheese, meats, fruit, yogurt and assorted juices. The day's weather forecast and the occasional invitation to join the staff and other guests in the lounge room for chili con carne or cake around 4pm, awaited us at our table each morning. I celebrated my birthday there, and they surprised me by bringing me a birthday cake to our table one morning and then offered to store it for us in the refrigerator. That was such a thoughtful touch that made us feel so welcome.

You can purchase your lift tickets at the front desk and they program them directly into your room key, so as long as you have that with you while skiing, you are all set. The ski passes work for St. Anton, St. Christof, Lech, Zurs and all the nearby ski areas in Arlberg. Each room has a dedicated ski locker in the storage room on the bottom floor, so you don't have to schlep your snow covered gear to your room each day. And the lockers have heated racks for your ski boots, which is such a treat in the morning when you put them on! Also on the bottom floor is spa area, with saunas, showers, massage rooms, and a small exercise room. Check out time is 10am but if you have a later flight, you can store your luggage here, ski for the day and take a shower before your flight.

The hotel is about 100 yards from three different lifts (Galzig, Gampen and Rendl) and easy walking to all the town's restaurants, bars and shops. Our favorites were Bodega (tapas), Hazienda (eclectic) and Pomodoro (pizza). In front of the hotel is a collection of tables with furry blankets on the chairs for reminiscing about the day or planning the next. We will not hesitate to return to the Skihotel Galzig on our next trip to St. Anton!

Room Tip: Room 205 or 305 have balconies overlooking the Galzig gondola
