“A good place to stay in Austrian Alps”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2012

Last year 2011 myself and a friend rode our motorcycles from the UK to Austria staying at a hotel in Landeck which was very biker based. This year we chose to ride to the Alps again but staying at St Anton Austria. We fly the wife's to Innsbruck and we take their motorcycle gear and then they are good to come pillion for day rides.

The Hotel was chosen after some internet research and a few UK to Austria phone calls, we booked suites and bed breakfast and evening meals for 5 nights, the girls who answer the phone a truly charming Monica and Bianca:-) They speak good English and couldn't have been more helpful.
On arrival the ladies were shown to their rooms/suites and we arrived a few hours later there is secure underground car parking/motorcycles which we used easy access too. The rooms were very nice with balconies large beds and a suer big closet room for skies and or like us motorcycle gear! All mod cons ,the wifi is free but was stronger downstairs when connected. There are ample bars and service is impeccable again from the young ladies. There is even a vintage car collection that the owner is only to pleased to show off :-)

The dinning room is good a little warm as the ac was not on but the food was great a chief cooks the food not a cook and certainly no boil in the bag processed foods! It was great, a full wine selection and all I can say is you will be hard pushed to fined a more wider tablet do menu.
There are area's where you can relax in nice comfy armchairs and the whole place is comfy and super clean.

The spa and pool area are good too there is steam sauna and all the keep fit stuff for the healthy folk. Its location is good you can walk out at night around numerous bars and eateries for the walkers there are many local walks up the hills with the cable cars close by and some guided walks for the more adventurous.
So all I can say is give it a go and I don't fell you will be disappointed. We found it good for local routes on the motorcycles to the Stelvio Italian Alps and Switzerland.

Room Tip: the rooms at the rear back onto the mountain and cable car, try and do a deal for the suites.

We always stay in hotels in Austria and Switzerland where Inghams describe the food as "excellent cuisine" but dining at this hotel surpassed all expectations and took the term to a significantly higer level than experienced anywhere else. Each night the 6 course evening meal was simply superb and the presentation simply exquiste, with excellent service too. Most days the meal started with a salad bar and finished with a cheese board. There is a choice of main course which needs to be chosen at breakfast although dessert is selected during the meal. A packed lunch or soup and salad at lunch time was also included in our half board and cakes were available, too, from 16:00 to 18:00. Thursday night was barbecue night...the best hotel barbecue ever. Our room was well furnished and well maintained with a good sized bathroom, although with just a shower unlike some of the other rooms. The hotel is located in a pedestrian area, close to the three lifts. Another bonus at this hotel was that we were able to buy our lift passes at half price.

Room Tip: Ask for a bath if you need one.....some have them....seems to be pot luck!

I have always favoured St Anton for skiing and when I stayed here with my wife we had the most perfect skiing holiday. We were on half board and the dinner menus were excellent, the service top notch and frendly, the rooms well furnished and fitted, though a little on the small side. The hotel is in e middle of town in the pedestrian zone as close the main lift stations. Can't wait to do it again

Traditional hotel with very large rooms and super staff. Good food and wonderful health facilities and priced as such. Only one small gripe is the bar which is like something out of Phoenix Nights (I kid you not) down to the synthesizer and two singers who are very nice but it does feel as though you've travelled back to the 80s. Aside from Raffls, this is the best hotel in St Anton and we stayed for a fortnight this year when the weather was pretty difficult but the ski in/ski out is good and there's so much to do that if you miss a day on the slopes, you don't really mind.

Room Tip: Try to get a room overlooking the slopes or those skiers staggering back late at night will keep you...

I have just spent 6 days here and loved every moment. Originally booked a room only on line and on arrival was offered an upgrade to half board (halb pension) which I took. As it turned out this was a good move, the food and restaurant service was excellent. St Anton is a small place and restaurants not linked to other hotels are limited to a couple of pizzeria's and a Chinese restaurant.

Our room was excellent and by far the biggest we have had in our 5 city European tour so far.

Internet was free but limited to one device log in at a time.

Hotel is a short walk from the railway station. (Don't rely on Google maps which does not recognise a couple of the pedestrian lanes)

After a morning on the mountains we had a swim in the hotel pool each afternoon and then caught the last of the day's sunshine on the sun terrace.

This hotel is not worthy of its 4star rating and clearly is very shabby (certainly not shabby chic!) and in great need of some TLC.When shown to our room the lift was a great indication of what was awaiting us in the hotel, worn carpet, adorned with messages stuck up with celotape. On arriving at our room my first reaction was that the carpet was wet until my husband advised me it weas just thread bare! Yellow sheets, chipped furniture and an extremly tired bathroom completing the scene. The staff were not the usual well presented Austrian dressed that we have been acustomed to greeting us and really they too set the scene of the standard of the hotel. We did not stay and requested to see the Manager who did not appear and we were left in the hands of the poor receptionist who tried but made the classic mistake of suggesting that perhaps the hotel was too dear for us as my husband had made the comment that the rate for the room did not reflect its standard. We left and thank goodness for the Raffls St Anertof a truly worthy 5 star hotel where we paid more but deservedly so!
