“Very good rooms and facilities”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2013 via mobile

Our family suite (which we'd specifically booked and paid the extra for - £650 each) was spacious, clean and comfortable and it was lovely to laze in a bath. We had a small balcony but the immediate view is a concrete building but the mountains are behind it.

The waiting and cooking staff are really helpful, friendly as and attentive and the food is adequate with plenty of choice each night. Breakfast is excellent.

I had a bit of an issue when someone accidentally took my walking boots from the boot room, leaving a much better pair in their place! Being a daft/honest Brit, I informed reception. The reception girl didn't handle it particularly well and when the bloke asked for HIS boots back she demanded them back from me, suggesting I'd have to use my towelling slippers!! As it happens my boots had mysteriously returned to the boot room without the perpetrator mentioning it so it all ended OK but leaving a bit of a sour taste.

Only other minor thing that would be good for us English is tea facilities in bedroom. We were delayed due to weather and on arrival at 11pm had to pick up our room key from the attached CU Bar but had no hot drinks available. They had however kindly left a salad for us in our room as we,d missed our evening meal.

The ski hire outlet being attached to the hotel is really handy and the sauna and steam facilities are nice (open from 4pm daily).

All in all a good stay.

This is our second visit to the Lohmann and has everything we needed for a perfect family ski holiday. The room we had was "Wildesptiz" and it was in the more modern half of the hotel. It was warm, extremely clean and well equipped. It sleeps up to 4 (with 2 on a large sofa bed) and has a little room for skis, boots, and empty cases opposite which is really useful. A fridge ensures enough water and a few snacks are on hand - that said the food in the restaurant is excellent and with buffet style service allows you to choose for those fussy eaters in the family. The food is excellent and hot which I find with some buffets can be a let down. Wine, beer and soft drinks are all included in the price which we found to be very reasonable considering the service and quality of the restaurant. The Lohmann is situated near many slopes and good ski schools (we used Obergurgl SkiSchule for the kids). Ski hire can be obtained on site at the Lohmann as it has it's own store (as well as a couple more dotted around the village - very useful if someone has taken your boots by mistake - they replaced them until ours turned up and averted a ski crisis and a lost day skiiing). The Lohmann is also licensed to sell ski passes which makes you ready to hit the slopes quite quickly and effortlessly if required. Check in and check out is seemless and not at all stressful. The only slight issue is in peak season it's difficult to get a seat in the bar for afternoon tea (also included in price) but if you have patience and can time it right then you can avoid this.

The Obergurgl is perfect for beginners and families with small children - fantastice place to learn with excellent ski school. Lots of blue and red runs and the lifts and gondolas are fantastic and not at all crowded (even in more busy times).

Special thanks to Zanna who welcomed us back so warmly - she remembered us from our first visit - all the staff were so friendly and helpful though and we look forward to visiting again.

Room Tip: We preferred the "Wildespitz" room which are family friendly, large comfortable and clean...

This hotel was created for ski fans only, most part of the building relates for ski service. Building is not Alpine-style, it is concrete-box primitive design on mountain slope, so that lower floors are looking underground. Not all rooms are achievable by lift, we were need for additional payment order "comfort" room that was not many steps from lift. Opposite windows it is construction work, so the "mountain view" is view through hoisting crane... There are the negatives.
The positives - room was large and clean and good equipped. Half board service is a benefit. Spa in hotel is very well. And stuff in hotel is very friendly and corporative.

Room Tip: Ask about lift - if it important for you. Ask rooms not opposite construction work

Our family suite (below street level, as are all rooms) was clean and comfortable. The hotel food was wholesome and adequate and the house wine was ok but had to be consumed within the restaurant. On our last Friday night, the hotel bar was closed before 10 pm which was more than a little irritating but was seemingly done as a result of one of our party smuggling a glass of the old vin rouge into the bar, tut tut! The one member of staff that really helped to make our stay memorable was Eva! nothing was too much trouble and the children adored her!

7 people ranging from 10 to 50s. Different skills, had a great time, boot room very dry and clean (as usual accessed down steps just to catch you out). Rooms very spacious and had a fridge.
The only dowside was the ski area (as a seasoned 3 valleys skier) it was not so extensive.
The food was excellent and the service same. At least they dont just supply Chicken nuggets and chips every night for the kids ! Try to avoid being too close the the childrens play area, we found it a little noisy. Also the bar area is much too small to accomodate all the guests. Otherwise brilliant time would highly recommend. I would also agree the hire shop in the hotel was a big bonus.

Room Tip: Like i said the hotel is a bit of a maze. I would ask to be not so close the the childrens play area...

We were really pleased that we had chosen the hotel - it really was ideal for our needs and I would recommend it to anyone.
The rooms were very clean, we had a junior suite for me and my husband and our two small daughters (9 and 5). The food was excellent (lots of options to choose from, but all were good) and the staff couldn't have done more for us. There is also a Kids club that collected the children from ski school for lunch and fed them and took them back again for afternoon skiing, they could also go down there and play form 4.00 to 8.00 every evening.
The hotel is very central and having a ski shop on site was also very helpful.
A really relaxing holiday and I would definitel hope to go back again.

The hotel is located in the middle of Obergurgl close to both nursery slopes and ski lifts. It has it's own hire shop which can be accessed through the hotel. We had a large room with a separate bedroom, plenty of hot water for a the big bath after a day on the slopes. Although the food on an evening was nice and plentyful there was little variance each evening but the unlimited wine and beer with dinner was very good value for money. Obergurgl is a fantastic place to ski, great conditions, runs and facilities. We can't wait to go back.
