“Ischgl forever”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2013

This was our second stay in this Hotel managed by a very friendly family. If this was our 2nd stay .. it means that we had very good reasons to go there again ... even if the choice in Ischgl is vast!. The hotel offers big rooms, free access to sauna and other wellness items, a wonderful gourmet dinner offered in half-board, cheaper ski pass and a very friendly and efficient service. The wellness space is fantastic and done with taste. The hotel is 10 minutes walk away from major ski lifts and also from the center of Ischgl, in a quiet area. You can feel when a family has been owning a place for 20 years, and they master it really well. Travelling often I must say that what you get for your money here is more than fair! My friends and I will definitely go back again. - As for Iscghl itself, its ski domain is splendid, and very well connected. (maybe not recommended for beginners). The "after-ski" spirit is like in no other place: fantastic.

I had a pleasant stay at Hotel Antony in February 2013. The location is away from the crowd, yet in 5 minutes walk you can be at the bottom of the Gondola. I recommend to rent a ski depot in the ski shop in front of the Gondola, special if you do not want to miss the aprés ski that takes place right off the slopes. In a little less than 10 minutes walk you are also at the heart of Ischgl, where you can find nice restaurants, shops and more aprés ski (Kushtall, Trofana Alm and others).

The hotel is very clean and the rooms are confortable, yet double rooms can be a bit tiny if you bring a lot of skiing equipment like I do. The food is excellent and as mentioned in a previous review, do not go to the restaurant with your ski cloths on! The service is quite good and I would like to give a special thanks to both Tanjas and to our waiter, Pascal. They all were responsible to provide us an outstanding service and making our staying even more plesant.

This review is from our group which every year traveling to Austria for winter ski vacations.

The Family Hotel is just 150 meters from the edge of the village. It is in a quiet area away from the noise of the village. Provide accommodation for families, couples, and not for young people seeking the holiday intensity.

The advantage of this hotel is the cleanliness in all areas. Services are satisfactory, the family owners want is to have happy customers, and strive for it.
The breakfast is typical, but in large quantities, dinner is reasonable without being different. I've eaten better in a four star hotel.
Attention! not come to dinner with Ski pants....The owners make observations and you should change your clothing ....sometimes with robust way......
The double rooms are excellent, without providing something special in decorating, reasonable size room, excellent bathroom, city good view, incredibly warm, and very clean. Unfortunately single rooms are quite small and are offered for children and not for adults. If you want to be alone in your room better to stay in a double room and pay the financial difference.
Small towels bother. Could be largest.
The area of the wellness are excellent, functional and very clean. If you need bathrobe take from the reception, you will find towels in large quantities. I will be bothered by the children 12-16 years. You will not be comfortable at any time to visit thw wellness.
Ski depot is great, use it. If you do not want to walk 300 meters to the nearbythe ski lift , call taxi with 8 euros per time will leave you just outside the lifts. We also used the named (ski in- ski out plus sixteen).
In past reviews of the hotel complained of many that night at 23.00 turn the lights off. Yes, turn the lights off. But not all. You can enjoy the foyer of the hotel with lower light. Why not ? Dont forget its family hotel.
The hotel has parking outside (as most of the village) when attention is ice, it is downhill side.
If you want to visit Ischgl, stay at this hotel. Will be satisfied.
Many thanks at the reception area to Tanjia and Annjia and many regards to Anton Salner.

We had altogether three families on a ski holiday trip to Ischgl. We enjoyed the property with spacious rooms and utmost friendly service very much. And we have been pampered by Tyrolean family hotels for twenty years...

The property is in a very good shape and the dining was positively excellent - we could have signed every diploma the Chef had posted on the wall. The WLAN is included and works reasonably well, but the login is not very convenient with (at least some) smartphones.

In terms on Aprés-Ski the hotel is a very quiet place (take it as a plus or minus) and honestly, the Chef should take a hard look at the Glühwein from the bar. One was enough for a week, it really doesn't attract to excess. But then again, the sauna world is magnificent, indeed, an ideal place to recover from the day up in the mountains.

The lift station is few hundreds of meters from the hotel and it's advisable to leave the skis and boots in a depot next to the lift station. The lift can be pretty crowded in the morning and if you want to jump the queue and enjoy uncrowded slopes, be there early.

BTW, if you arrive e.g. via Munich, consider taking a train to Landeck Zams and a taxi from there (€68) as the traffic jams on the Autobahn can be spectacular, especially on Saturdays.

Room Tip: The rooms can be quite warm. If you wish to have it cooler, find the radiator valve behind the woode...

Stayed 8 nights recently, on a ski trip. On arriving it looks like it’s on the edge of the lower portion of Ischgl village and initially disappointed, but actually only a max 8 min walk to the Pardatschgratbahn ski lift (4x gondola) and the lower section of Ischgl. It is Austrian 4 star but was great value in that offers bed, breakfast and dinner with good variety and decent food a rate of c. E160 pp for the period we were in Ischgl. Rooms are clean and a reasonable size albeit on the small side but typical size for a ski resort hotel – décor and finishes always look from the 70’s in my experience of Austrian hotels. Rooms don’t have aircon but oil / rail heaters in both bathroom and bedroom. Difficult to regulate temp so had to open window at night otherwise way too hot. Most rooms have a balcony looking onto the town or to the side. No mini-bar, but flat screen TV with c. 20 channels…only CNN and BBC in English. Bathrooms clean and MUST state preference for shower or bath. Room 104 had a full shower, and looked onto the village. Ischgl is divided into main / upper village and the lower part connected with a travelator through a tunnel. The Pardatschgratbahn and the Fimbabahn (8x gondola) service the lower section so from the hotel, you have great access up the mountain with max 10min queues on weekends from these ski lifts. Hotel Antony is also close to the Spar and Billa supermarkets, Pashas nightclub, loads of other restaurants and bars and the après-ski landmark Shatzi’s – all within 10 min walk from the hotel (admittedly down and then uphill walk as hotel Antony on the other side of the main road and the river). Takes a 10 min walk to get to the start of the tunnel and so in 15/20 min you are in the upper part of the village. The hotel has a 30m reasonably steep drive way so whilst there is a boot / ski depot area at hotel, its highly recommended that you use a ski depot at the lifts as walking to the hotel and up / down the driveway in ski boots with ice and snow is difficult. Family owned / operated and friendly and helpful - in the normal Austrian way - and attentive service at meal times. All staff speak English so communication is not a problem. Free wi-fi in rooms and lounge area was a big plus. Didn’t get to the spa / sauna’s but area looks good. All in, considering the rates quoted by other hotels, particularly in the main area of Ischgl, this offered great value with accommodation and food more than sufficient for a ski holiday with the key determinate being close to the ski lifts / areas. If returned to Ischgl, would definitely use Hotel Antony again.

Room Tip: Request a room with a proper shower vesus a bath shower, and a room that looks onto the village ski...

Check out the rooms they have on their website! Looks comfortable and spacious, doesn't it? Well, what you see is what you do NOT get. They have exactly 2 (yes, like in "two") newly renovated rooms (with some extra space, a sofa and so on). As the rooms are all priced the same you may be trapped into thinking they are all alike. Nope. All the other (40 or so) rooms are much smaller and ooze the look & feel of the late 1970s when the hotel was built. Even if this doesn’t constitute fraud in a legal sense, it certainly feels like it...

But don't even try to discuss this with the receptionist. She will take on a sassy attitude and make you feel you ought to be lucky they accommodated you at all. With a few exceptions this is pretty much in line with the way the owner and the staff will treat you during your stay. The driveway up to the parking lot is pretty steep and can be icy at times (likes during our stay!) but the owner wouldn’t dream of clearing it (why should he, there might be new snow in two weeks’ time..?).

However, there is one big exception lifting the rating from “poor” to “average”: the spa and sauna facilities are brand new and provide for some nice relaxation time between skiing and dinner. You can sweat and chill, bathrobes and enough fresh towels for everyone. Great! But no light without shade even here (though nothing the owner can be held accountable for): Ivan, Irina and Vladimir have discovered the hotel, too. They are also using the sauna and may be gulping down a can of cold beer (you know what I mean) while you simply try to relax.

Since you are there for the skiing, you won’t spend too much time at the hotel anyway, so all this might be overlooked and forgotten once you down our après-ski drinks in the afternoon sun. However, all this comes at a hefty rate of some 250 Euros mid-season. There are numerous better options in Ischgl, either closer to the skiing facilities or at a much better rate.
