“Perfect with the kids”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2012

Just back from a skiing vacation with the kids and definitely thimk that the hotel Galtenberg deserves a big thumbs up! Travelled as a party of 6 adults, 4 kids and 2 infants and the hotel definitely delivered on its promise to be a fantastic all inclusive, superb value for money family and infant friendly hotel! The kids club was open from 0930 - 2100 every day allowing us to leave the infants in day care whilst we hit the slopes during the day as well as in the evening during dinner time. Hotel was extremely clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was abundant, as was the afternoon tea selection and dinner alternated between buffet and set menu. The room was not large but not too small either so all in all was adequate for our family needs as it had a double bed and a bunk bed for the kids. The only 'downside' if any is the location. The hotel is in inner alpbach and not alpbach which is actually 3 km away. Didn't effect the skiing though as the pistes that connect to the entire ski area are literally in front of the hotel. As for a to do in destination : take a horse carriage ride up the mountain - beautiful alpach village and miuntain scenery. All in all it was a fantastic family skiing vacation so would definitely recommend the Galtenberg and kinder hotels for anyone traveling with young children and looking for an all inclusive deal at great value for money.

The staff on reception were so grumpy unhelpful and at times rude it was a good job we have a sense of humour! They became a standing joke between the guests! We were lucky that we were able to look after ourselves and met another family who gave us information about how to find things in the area. One lady on reception was very kind and helpful but if she was not there it was best to just avoid them as they made you feel like you were just a bother. My 84 year old gran who was on holiday with us tripped over and cut her head, arm and knee, the bar man was kind, looked concerned and made up an ice pack for her. When i asked the girls on reception for a first aid kit they didn't know what i meant! It took all of my patients not to shout at them! After a while i got the bar man to ask for it for me, they gave it to me but showed no concern to my gran whose head was bleeding....another family told us how to get to the doctor which we found was a bus journey away. Gran needed two stitches in her head and not one of them asked how she was!!
One lady who i think may have been the owner (very pregnant when we visited) was great she had great smile and so much energy if it were not for her bubbly presence it would have been a very grumpy place to be.

We have just come back from a weeks family ski holiday and was worried before we left about the previous reviews. The Hotel was lovely, Staff were fantastic, the food was top class for a buffet and most nights it was a choosen dish, compliments to Wolfgang the chef and restaurant staff it was A1. Skiing was good and it snowed 2days before we left so skiing conditions were good at the top, fresh deep snow. Spa was nice and so was the creche - Archie cried the first few days but was fine after 5mins by the end of the week he was asking to go in there. Over all an excellent holiday, Thankyou very much Galtenberg Staff xx

I stayed at this Hotel in September with a group and we were climbing the Alps daily. We had a lovely stay at the Hotel and the food and service everthing about it was great but on our final departure day is what leads me to writing this review.

We as a group were due to be picked up at 7am on the morning of departure by a coach company whom we had got from the airport to the Hotel on the day we arrived. To make a long story very short at 7.45am you had a gorup of 15 travellers who were facing missing flights due to the incompetence of the bus company we had booked and that we finally admitted at 7.45am the bus was not coming.

The staff and the management of the Hotel went way beyond the call of duty and got people they knew out of bed, orgainsed mini bus etc and god knows but got us to the airport with five mins to spare when we got to our departure desk. What was an extremely stressfull morning and one where with all the panic and running a proper thank you was not given to the Hotel. I all my years i was never so thankfull so thank you to all at the Hotel who sorted us out on the morning of the 18th of Sept you were amazing and while this should not have been the highlight of what was a great stay you should know all you did was very much appreciate.

I hope one day i get back so thanks to you all and the owner and well done

Travelled with 2 teenagers and 2 toddlers, plenty to do in surrounding area for both age ranges. ocal bus service (free) was easy to use and always prompt!
Booked with KinderHotels, food and wine all-inclusive - staff could not do enough to ensure our holiday was a good one! Walking with Anita was excellent, a very knowledgeable and friendly woman who took care and was patient with having a 1 year old and also a 14 year old on a walk! Local scenery is breath taking. Rooms cleaned daily, room spacious and clean. Could have done with a private balcony to the room, It was brilliant, would certainly recomend. Pool clean and warm xx

We spent 6 nights in the Galtenrberg over Easter with a 5 and a 3 year old. We were picked up at Innsbruck airport and the drive took 50 min. The van had 2 child safety seats that we had requested. At the hotel we were greeted with champagne and taken to our room which was a K5 suite. The suite had a separate bedroom for the children with bunkbeds and cot for our 3 year old that we had requested. The bunkbeds were great as they also have safetybars so the children cannot fall out. We were also able to borrow a night light from the hotel and the phone can be turned into a baby-phone (that calls your cell phone) which was great as we left our our youngest asleep in bed while we had dinner. The food was great and so was the wine. Our 5 year old attended ski-school which was just outside the hotel. On the last 2 days of her school she had progressed enough to go to the top of the mountain where she and 2 other children had 1 ski instructor the whole day. She stayed with them from 09.30 to 15.15 and had lunch with them as well. Our youngest went to the day-care facility which I thought was quite nice and clean. However, my only complaint would be that not all the women working there were equally great with the kids. I thought they could have come up with more fun activities, especially in the morning when we left them there and they were not particularly happy...
The ski resort is great if you are not an extremely advanced skier and through the hotel you get a discount on ski-rental and in total it was not too bad. P.S. Ski-schools are closed on Saturdays. The pool was nice after a long day of skiing. We did not try the Spa.
