“Superb food and service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2014

We visited the Achenwirt several times during our week skiing, the service in the restaurant is brilliant, and the food is top quality. They are also very accommodating to children. I can recommend the Spetzle!

“THE best place to eat lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2014

Do yourself a big favour and come down of the mountain and have lunch here.
Why battle up on the slopes to get a,table, get served and then have mediocre food? When you can ski down or catch the lift and lunch here, just a minutes walk from the cable carnage station.

The place looks pretty unattractive from the outside - but inside it is delightfully traditional- serving great food with friendly staff and much cheaper than " up top"!

“Traditional charm and 'home-cooking'; perfect combination”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2014 via mobile

Instead of joining the crowds in the restaurants on the ski slopes, take a lunch break at the bottom of the Wiedesbergerhorn gondola. Just across the road is this traditional Austrian restaurant. It is cosy, warm and decorated in true traditional style. The food is cooked fresh on the premises and is so tasty. There is little outside to draw your attention but well worth walking in and enjoying. Very good value including quality and price. Very relaxing atmosphere. And if you are a skier, it's easy to return to the slopes on the gondola. If not, the bus stop is just outside.

“Good for thirty years”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2013 via mobile

We have been skiing in Alpbach for over thirty years. Achenwirt has been a favourite lunch venue every year.
Good local food, good service and reasonable cost, what more could you ask for. Don't be put off by the external appearance.

“Warm and cosy with great food to match”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2013

The only problem with stopping to have lunch in Winter in here is it is hard to leave to go back skiing. The combination of comfortable wrap around bench seats and great Tyrolean food can make it hard to get up and go skiing after lunch. The servings are generous and delicious to match - especially the local specialities such as the Grey Cheese Soup. Located just over the road from the main ski terminal makes it easy to access but having the free shuttle bus back to the village stopping outside makes it just as accessible to non-skiers as well.
