This summer we (2 adults and a teenage kid) stayed for almost a week in Alpbach. We planned to dine at a different restaurant each night but the Alpbacherhof was the only one where we HAD to return.
One of the reasons was Peter (our server from the first visit) and the second (of course) was the food.
Our meal started "on the right foot" with a complimentary chef's special appetizer. (Sorry, can't remember the name of the dish...)
We had salads and an octopus Carpaccio as appetizers
The main course consisted of Tafelspitz (boiled tri-tip), chanterelles goulash, and a rib-eye steak. A bottle of Scheibel Pinot Noir went along pretty well with those dishes.
Deserts: chocolate mousse, ice cream and rhubarb Griesknöd (some sort of semolina dumplings).
Cost: about 130 euro.
TIP: Weather permitting, grab a beer (or schnapps) and watch the sunset from the terrace.
