This hotel is fantastic. It is the 4th time we have stayed here and definately plan to go back next year.

The Junior suites are really spacious and comfortable with easily enough room for a family of four and all your ski gear etc. The beds are really comfortable and everything is very clean. Maid service is discreet and to a very high standard.

The food is excellent and plentiful with a massive and varied choice each evening. As they offer buffet style every night, it is great for kids because they can see the food before choosing and if they don't like it, they can get something else. It is of a very high standard.

The location is the only thing that goes against this hotel as it is half way up the hill to the nursery slopes. Fortunately, the ski bus stop is only about 50m away and so this is not really a massive problem in the mornings. It is a bit of a walk into town but you can then catch the ski bus back to the hotel as they run until quite late.

One of the best things about this hotel is the staff, who are very friendly, hardworking and effecient. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they go out of their way to ensure you have a great time.

I highly recommend this hotel to families, it offers a very relaxed atmosphere and everything you need for a great holiday.

The Waldhof Hotel was such a nice surprise as it was modern but had the touches you would expect in an Austrian hotel with the scent of Christmas greeting you at the door as you entered. The staff were so friendly and even gave our son a room for himself as it was a rather quiet week there. The rooms were so spacious and modern and we were amazed at how quiet and peaceful it was there. The views from the hotel were lovely from every side and we could here the running water from a stream outside our bedroom window. Food was great and plenty of it. They knew how to dress the plate and made it appetising for us. Nothing was a bother to the efficient friendly staff and we felt at home there. The plus was that the hotel was a few steps away from a road where you could ski to the City Express to catch the first cable car up to the slopes. Zell itself is so pretty and they had an event where hot air balloons flew off into the night sky with fireworks and a ski show. Amazing! Whether they do this every year I don't know. The skiing at Zell is wonderful and there is the option of taking a short bus ride (free) to nearby Kaprun to ski on the amazing glacier. Also not to be missed is the Ice Camp at Kaprun which was a collection of igloos where you could even spend the night. Chilled music was playing and the atmosphere was just great. The days were sunny and we had the perfect weather there. Shops were good and we felt very welcome in Zell. A special feature of the hotel was their outdoor heated pool which was wonderful to sink into after bracing yourself for the cold air when diving in!

We spent a week here over New Year. We found the hotel staff very friendly and efficient. We were on a half board basis and found the evening buffet to be of a high qaulity with a wide selection. We stayed in a junior suite in the new building (over the road from the main hotel but linked by an underground tunnel) and found the room spacious and clean. Zell am See itself is a very pretty resort with plenty of restaurants and bars. We spent New Year's Eve in the main square, which had a good atmosphere and plenty of fireworks. We enjoyed the skiing too - our party were mainly intermediates and we found a wide variety of suitable runs and lift queues were reasonable given the popularity of New Year week. Overall, we would return to this hotel again.

Hotel was very clean, we had modern 4th floor room (with sofa bed for 5 year old daughter) with wide balcony and new bathroom. (Apparently top floor was rebuilt couple of years ago and roof raised to sweep away old attic rooms), Staff were helpful and willing to organise trips. Food good (large spread of starters excellently presented) weekly kitchen party unexpected fun (which we had taken camera) also house beer and wine were free (but not in winter) and Could also get free tea / coffee / juice (self service during day)
Location is a bit of a walk as 10 mins uphill from town centre (can get bus, but location of bus-stops means you need to walk part way). Our holiday reps from Crystal were also friendly and reliable. However outdoor pool was rather cold, Also check photos on brochure carefully (there is a road between pool and new building) which leads to Schmittenhoe cable cars. Would go there again
