“Very Good as usual”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2013

Again I stayed at the Sporthotel Strass, in the garni. The single room I had was superb, plenty of room. I had a balcony and I did sit out on it one evening in my ski jacket. It did have a nice view from it.
The food was excellent, both at Breakfast and Dinner. The Staff serving, were top of the world. I did not go hungry on my weeks stay. The staff in the Lobby Bar were very good, they looked after me very well, especially Jessica. The spa is top of the range. I did go into the ice bar on a few occasions but left, it was to full. I had fun time though!!!!!!!!!!! I did not go into the sports lounge much, due to it been a smoking area, but I could see that everyone was having a wonderful time.

Room Tip: The Hotel is on the main high street of Mayrhofen, in the Winter it would be best to have a room at...

If you've had the misfortune of booking hotels for skiing where you had to walk even a few hundred metres in ski boots, carrying skis, invariably uphill you're going to love this place. It doesn't exactly have alpine chalet charm (more cruise ship/package holiday) but for convenience it can't be beaten. Hotel is literally a stones throw from the main gondola and home to the apres ski Ice Bar. Snow room has locked ski/board racks. The rooms we had were comfortable, clean and huge. There was a double bed, good sized table with four chairs and a balcony. Unfortunately we could hear every note from the "musician" in the bar downstairs until well after midnight. (We resolved this by staying out after midnight.) There's a restaurant, a couple of bars with musicians of varying quality (greatest hits of karaoke mostly - cheesy at 10pm but great craic by 12 when everyone's singing along) and I believe there's a leisure centre (I never get to see those - I can't figure out who has time on a ski holiday). We were full board as we didn't have an option. There was a 4 course meal (salad bar, soup, main course, desert) every night which was decent quality for a full board meal (not quite michelin star) - but the menu was quite restricted. They did offer Bolognese or Schnitzel every night though. If you like full board then this is fine. Breakfast is the usual buffet of breads, cheese, meats, cereals, fruit etc with the standard continental impression of eggs and bacon. Not the highest quality or most charming place I've ever been but it will not be beaten for convenience.

Room Tip: Ask for a room out of ear shot of the bar.

Was out at the hotel during Snowbombing, great atmosphere, and a fabulous hotel, which has an amazing spa.

All of the staff were really helpful and all of the facilities where amazing, would recommend to any family, or couple looking for a great hotel which is super close (next door) to the main ski lift. Was lucky enough whilst we was out in mayrhofen to get a nice dump of snow so was a perfect combo! HIGHLY RECOMMEND +++++

Centred right in the heart of Mayrhofen, this hotel is a no brainer for those who are looking for both comfort and convenience. With the ski lift less than 100 yards away and an abundance of restaurants and cafe's in close proximity (including several within the hotel itself). And... For those looking to relax after a long days skiing, you must check out the spa underneath the hotel, it is amazing!

Every year I stay at Sporthotel Strass as part of the Snowbombing staff, and want to put on record that this week is usually exclusively for Snowbombing guests. However this year the date was changed from its initial place in the calendar. This resulted in some families and non-Snowbombing guests being present. While there was no specific issues or problems, the atmosphere was - as you would expect for a cool music and snowsports festival - lively.

The hotel have confirmed that all tour operators who had sold rooms were informed of the fact that Snowbombing would be taking place and proceeded to sell the rooms, fully aware that the event-goers would make up the majority of hotel guests this particular week.

Many local people agree that Snowbombers are among the best behaved visitors to Mayrhofen all season - a fact which has led to us being invited back year after year since 2004.

The Sporthotel Strass is exemplary in the service it gives to its guests; both Snowbombing and non-Snowbombing. This is why it is the first hotel to sell out each year we put it on sale. Our relationship with the hotel is second to none; it's location, staff, facilities and attitude are a credit to the Roscher Family - who take personal pride in the service they supply.

The message is simple; this is a family hotel except during Snowbombing; when its the most happening place in town!

Room Tip: Rooms in the Strass Hotel are more traditional; those in the Sporthotel are more contemporary: both...

Thanks again to the Strass hotel for another fantastic stay during Snowbombing week.
Incredibly friendly and helpful staff, stunning spa area (great massage), stones throw from the lift, social bar area and really the only place to be (where else can you see Pat Sharp, Eddie the Eagle and Mark Wright in one place!

Room Tip: Quiet rooms are available on request, the friendly receptionists will do their best
