4 adults and a 5 year old stayed with the Eberharter family in Landhaus Carla at the end of March 2010. We've been to Mayrhofen many times before and love the place. We've stayed in a wide variety of hotels and guest houses and that the standard of accomodation is always good and the care and attention given to guests typically Tirolean. But Landhaus Carla stands head and shoulders above the rest. Located next to the train station at the entrance to the town it is readily accessible by all forms of transport. Its a bit of a hike to the Gondola in the mornings but the Ski bus stops across the road and is a more civilized option than beating your way up Haupstrasse with the prols as you would have to from many other hotels. Rooms are typically Tirolean in style, super clean, well laid out and bathrooms, showers etc as one would expect of any good accomodation. Frau Eberharter was kind enough to put us in a 3 and a 2 person room on different floors, when a 3 person room became available next door she insisted we move together. The 3 person room we got on day 2 was bigger and better than the one we were perfectly happy with on day 1. We were on a B&B basis but ended up eating everynight in the Tiroler Stuben (bar and restuarant) attached to the accomodation. Food was excellent, loads of it, very tasty and very reasonably priced. We looked at the half board option which offers a more limited menu but would have been happy every night with 1 of the options available had we chosen this option. Meal of the day on offer for €10 that has 3 courses of good food, which was super value. Childrens menu as one would expect but even here the quality of the food served was excellent. The accomodation is run as a family affair with Frau Carla as the gracious hostess, her sons help manage and run the show in the evenings. We were treated as guests in their home rather than guests in a hotel. We were greeted with smiles at all times and our demanding 5 year old had lots of attention lavished on him. I simply wont stay anywhere else in Mayrhofen from now on, Ok so there is no swimming pool or flash Spa but we ski all day and enjoy coffee and cake coming off the mountain we rarely get the full use of these type of facilities. There is a small sauna here so if you need it to defrost and relax its always an option. We met other guests that have been coming back for 15 years and its clear to see why. How there are not 100's more positive reviews about this place is a mystery to me. Maybe, unlike me they gave into the temptation and didnt make a post for fear of this place becoming too popular. But this definitely a great spot, and I cant reccomend it enough.
