“Brilliant Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2013 via mobile

Hotel Antonius is a fabulous place to stay. location is great as bus stop is just outside. staff are lovely...and service is good. food was beautifully cooked and there was plenty of it. i have never stayed in a more cleaner hotel, the rooms were cleaned everyday and fresh towels provided. if i could provide one bit of advice....the hotel should provide free wifi as all the local bars / restaurants do and everybody nowadays has some kind of device that requires internet access. Great value for money and we even came home with change!!

Family of 11 just back from a week in Kaprun at the hotel Antonius , the hotel was excellent , staff could not have been more helpful and pleasant and even provided a 21st birthday cake and table decorations on request, facilities were excellent, extremely clean, service at meal times were very efficient, dishes cleared away quickly, and food served promptly, buffet breakfast was more than adequate. The rooms were spacious and fantastic views from balconies. All in all the best Hotel we have stayed at and certainly hope to return. - Well done to all the staff.

Let's begin with the only thing that I loved there: the food and the waiters. The waiters were respectful and wonderful and the food was delicious everyday.
And now the bad: almost everything! None of the rules are respected and nobody seem to care and try to fix that. Children were jumping in the pool, under 16 y.o. ones were going inside the sauna and jacuzzi area, even if they weren't allowed to.. On the hallway some people smoked everyday and again, nobody of the staff seemed to care.
The pool had so much chlorine that it ruined my bathing suit. As in literally melting the rubber from it.
The towels were like sandpaper. They didn't even provide for bathrobes and slippers. You had to pay for them. Separately!
Also, the internet was only available in the lobby, 2 euros for 1/2 hour and the connection was dropping every 5 minutes (and taking 2 minutes to get back on).
For me, these things were unacceptable for a 4 stars hotel in Austria.

No hesitation in recommending the Antonius.

It is located towards the edge of town, 5-10 minutes walk in normal shoes, but probably too far to walk with skis and ski boots. The ski bus (K2) stops right outside and runs every 30 minutes. As only the second stop on the route, you will always get a seat! The bus makes 3 more stops (stop 3 is at the Maiskogel lift station), then goes directly to the Kitzsteinhorn glacier station avoiding the town centre. The hotel staff are very friendly and efficient. We booked a standard room, but it consisted of a double bedroom, separate bathroom & WC and a lounge.

There was more food than we could cope with and the standard was very good.

The indoor pool was very clean and the adjacent sauna/steam room/Jaccuzzi suite was excellent. A number of UK guests were a little hesitant to use this area because the signs indicated that swimwear was not to be worn in the sauna. There were naked people of both sexes in this area, which is out of bounds for kids under 16. However, I used the sauna every day and did not feel embarrassed (as most people ignored me or just exchanged a few words of conversation).

Overall, I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and I would definitely go back.

Room Tip: Don't be too embarrassed to use the excellent sauna suite!

I would definitely recommend the Antonius for a ski trip. The facilites are great, the staff were excellent. The barman Pieter always remembered our drinks and which room to put the bill on, very professional indeed. The room service staff were efficient, courteous and friendly and the food I found to be of a very high standard indeed. The owner even arranged a table in the bar area for some friends who joined us for dinner one night as the restaurant was full. A good range of choices for breakfast too.The spa facilites are quite comprehensive too with a nice pool, sauna and spa , just the ticket to help with those tired legs.Like most ski hotels I found the room too warm to sleep in at night but that was easily sorted by opening a window. The K2 ski bus stops right outside the door to take you to the main slopes in town or directly to the glacier. Overall a very well run establishment and if I am ever back in Kaprun this is where I will stay.

Room Tip: ask for a room with a balcony, front or back is fine.

This was the first time I visited Kaprun. You always look for a fair price and get much comfort of course. This hotel offers it all. It's clean as it can be, if you find a corner with dust, let me know, there ain't! The food is great, incredible how they do it for the price, the cooks have lots of phantasy and pay lots of attention to allergies like gluten. People that say that the food isn't good, deserve to fall of a cliff! The family is nice, it's quiet in the hotel and the pool and spa are great.
In front of the hotel stops the bus that brings you to the gletscher gondel, fantastic.
Kitzsteinhorn rules!
Absolutely recommendable!

A wonderful hotel. Our room was more like a suite; both indoor and outdoor pools were excellent and the huge modern sauna area was beautifully decorated. Although the hotel seemed full it felt quiet even in pool and sauna areas and service was always excellent.
All 3 meals per day were superb, abundant and lots of choice. Always masses of vegetables, fruit, and salad selections (not drenched in thick mayonaises). For vegetarians there was always cheese, eggs and various bean salads to fill up on.
I don't know how they do it for the price.
My only slight niggles were the piped music, the tiny room safe, and the boring dry packed lunches, but that wouldnt stop me revisiting.
Lots to do in the area for all ages.

Room Tip: Even the cheaper 'eves' rooms were spacious.
